too skiny
this may seem odd, but my son is too skiny for his clothes! He is alsmost 13 months, 32 inches tall but only 22 pounds. He fits 18 month clothes lengthwise, but they fall off his little tushy! He literaly can walk out of some of his pants! Does anyone have any advice, or know where to get i guess, slim baby clothes? it is so laughable, but i would like the poor little guy to keep his pants up!

My daughter is the same age but even smaller. She's only 28 inches and 17 lbs. To get clothes that fit your son better, don't buy according to age but the weight and length. It is usually listed on the tag attached to the clothes. Each brand of clothing fits differently. My daughter wears from 6-9 month clothes to 12 month clothes depending on brand. Gerber usually fits smaller.

My daughter is tall for her age and most clothes are to short. So we have to get a size bigger to get the lenth. I have found a lot of ways to put in pleats and darts.

My daughter is 14 months and exactly the same size as your son. I've noticed problems with fitting more in some pants than others. Of course every brand and style fits differently, but I've noticed overall that denim and khaki pants generally are more form fitting on her waist than others. Also, I usually have fitting problems most with pants that come as part of an outfit. The clothes I buy individually tend to fit much better. Thankfully everybody loves a baby's bottom =).

thanx everyone! my husband and i joke that we need to fatten our son up, even though sometimes he eats more than i do! his sisters were both heavier, so i never encountered this before. he gets clothes from his cousin who is chunkier than he is. he just seems to have no baby fat! i think i will have to put in darts or something for his pants because even sweats will fall off sometimes. At least summer is comming!

Jackie my husband and I have noticed the same thing with our daughter she is 33 in and weighs 23 pounds. However, after we had been searching for belts and realized we weren't going to find one in her size we gave up. However, on one faitful day I went to roll her bottoms up and realized that they had this insizer. It has a button on either side with an elastic band with button holes. This really works wonders. I know that the children's place and old navy bottoms usually have them. If you could look for those they have been really helping us out a lot. I am not sure where else they sell them, but it is truly a life saver so our daughter wouldn't be looking like she was trying to show her luvs off. =) Hope this helps.

I think K Mart also sells the one with sizers and JC Penny also has them.

We found old navy had a big selection on clothes that can be adjusted to fit.
Good luck!

my son is 5 months and just the opposite...he is more round than he is tall and most clothes are skin tight around his belly but swallows the rest of him whole, even if I go by the weight...I wish I could find a fat kid store...I just hope that when he gets mobile he'll thin out

at 6 months by brother had a triple chin. now he is almost 42 and can practically eat an entire cow and still has a thirty three inch waist. once he takes off walking, the little guy will slim down. there is no real way to determine how chunky we'll be later in life, so don't stress it and enjoy the extra dimples while they're there. once they loose the baby belly, it usually means the end of babihood, so enjoy it! besides, when else in your life is it cute to be fat, bald and toothless?! ;)

My daughter was a preemie and we always have problems finding clothes that fit. I have found that Old Navy's clothes are slimmer that others. Also, Meijer has the adjustable fit. however, not everyone buys those brands and I have become great friends with the safety pin. :) She is now 5 and I can usually find clothes with adjustable waists or slim fits, but every now and then (especially when grandparents buy for her) I still bring out the safety pins.

I found some adjustable waist pants at Target and JCPenny. They are perfect for this exact situation! My daughter is 29 months and needs about a 12 or 18 month waist, but 2T in length! We don't buy any other long pants now. We can still get away with the smaller skirts and shorts since the length doesn't matter as much.

LOL! My son is the same way. He is 19 months and he wears 24/2T shirts and 18 mo. bottoms. He's just now being able to keep 24 mo. bottoms from falling all the way off, but I still have to pull them up for him in the back at times. It is cute. So, what I did was take a needle and thread and tack the waist in the back. That way, I can just let it out when they get snug on him.
Good luck!

my daughter is 22 months and she is 33 incehs tall and she only weighs about20-21 pounds. but she is to talll to fit in 12 moth pants and she is to skinny to fit into 18 months pants but she can fit into a size 24 month to 2t shirts. i have found that they do not make belts small enough for her and the pants with the elastic inside them dont come in her sixe yet. so i will go to the craft section of your local walmart and i will buy some cute ribbon that match her clothes and i use them for a belt nad i will tie the on the side like a sash or i will tie them in front and i get a lot of nice comments about them from every one. i hope that this will help everyone who has a skinny child also.

My daughter is the same way!! She is 2 now, but she has to wear 3T clothes for the length and then they are huge every where else...I found that the best way to go with pants is to find the ones that have adjustable waist bands...they are the best that I have found! Good luck!

My son is almost 5 and keeps jumping from 38-40 pounds. His doctor put him on protien powder, which I put in his chocolate milk on the mornings and also suggested getting the most fattening icecream I can find and give him 5-6 bites of it during the days time.

my step son is 12 1/2 yo. he is 4'6 and weighs 65 lbs.
for 2 years he was 4'5 and 60 lbs. he just started gaining weight we had to go to an endocronologist and a nutritionist. He has to eat every couple of hours and all whole foods no low fat stuff. nuts(trail mixes) and yogurts are his favorites. he hates sweets so we had to find other means. the 5 lbs were gained in the last 3 months.
we had to go because his regular Dr. said with his growth rate at full adult height he would only be 5'4. My son is only 8 months older than my step son and he is 5'3 and almost a 100 lbs.
I just worry about school I don't want him to be teased.
he has size 10 pants that still have tags from last summer because they are big on him.
The DR. said he is "malnurished" but it isn't our fault he just doesn't eat his potential.
The boy eats a lot he is just very active and has a fast metabolism I wanted to kick the Dr. My husband is into eating right and I cook every night we don't eat fast foods or too many greasy things. He assumed that because he comes from a divorced family he is "depressed" I don't like this Dr.

I would definately see another dr. You know your child better than anyone and if diagnosising him as depressed doesn't sound right to you, than please see someone else before he wants to medicate your son when he doesn't need to be!

I second the adjustable waist pants, I love those things! My little one is very small framed, but long, and I have found rompers and overalls to be a Godsend for her! For my 6 year old, only adjustable waist pants will do, she's such a skinny minnie too, and very athletic. I try belts with her, but they're such a pain, I much prefer the adjustable waists instead.
