bedtime question
My son is 4 years old. What is an appropriate bedtime for him? I usually put him to bed at 9:30pm, but my sister who has a four year old daughter puts her to bed at 8:00pm. Am I letting him stay up too late?

As long as your son seems rested it should not really matter what time he goes to bed. We try to have my 2 year old son in bed by 8pm but when he goes over to his father's house he stays up until after 10pm.

I have a 4 year old daughter and she is in bed by 8pm all week long. I'm thinking about extending it to 8:30pm soon.

Hi Angie,
I have a almost 5 yr. old and a almost 4 yr. old , I put them to bed between 7:45 and 8:15, I just want to be sure they are well rested for school which they both attend. Studies to show that children that age should be getting between 11-12 hrs. a night , so I guess if he's making up for it by sleeping later that its fine.

thanks for all the advice..I guess because I am a night owl I let him stay up later, once he starts school I will need to adjust though!

Hi - I'm new to the group and we almost always put our son to bed at 8pm - he wakes up on the clock at 7pm and I think this is a good schedule for him. But I think all kids are different and will tell you when they're ready for bed - it's your call you know your son best!

Hello, My kids ages 2 and 4 go to bed between 7:45 and 8:15. They are usually asleep by 8:30. They share a room, so they usually chit chat for a few minutes. I stick to this schedule everyday. Some days are later if we are busy on the weekend or something!
