Kids with speech delay

Just saying hi...
My name is Cara, and I'm a stay at home mom to Daniel (will be 3 next month) and Kaitlyn Joy (17 months).

Daniel has been diagnosed with a severe expressive language delay, and goes to special ed preschool for kids with developmental delays. It's at the elementary school he'll attend for K-5. He goes M-F for 3 hours, and twice a week he gets 20 minutes of ST. He just started preschool in January, and we have already seen HUGE breakthroughs! Just this week, he TOLD us the names of every letter of the ABC's! He's never told us what anything is before, he's just pointed or every so often repeated what we say.

Kaitlyn Joy has not been tested yet, but we have noticed she is behind in speech as well. Her pediatrician wants to wait until she's 2.

Well.. I guess that's about it ;) I look forward to hearing more about all of your experiences. It's nice to have support!

Wow my two little ones are are Colin 4 and Caitlyn 30 months she'll be 3 in August.

Colin started pre-k at a special ed school in Nove with 90 mons ST weekly and he goes 5 days a week. I have noticed some improvement but not a lot. I am really afraid he's not going to be ready for kindergarten at the rate wr are going. They craft a lot and he brings many neat projects home for use to work on together, his teacher has her Masters there are only 10 children including him in the class.

Caitlyn is a head in her speech and development. So next year when she goes to pre k they will probably be in the same class. I dont know if I said they are in a integrated system.

I am so happy for you and you son please let me know how things continue to progress. Mine is not all bad news he is saying his name better and identifying things like fire truck and train. and Elmo better.

Hi Cara,

That sounds like a really great program that you have your son in. Congratulations on the breakthroughs.

Your introduction brought tears to my eyes. Funny, since I just joined this morning, but it was out of desperation seeking hope. The amazing advancement with your son, gives me hope.

Congrats on his improvement, and I hope his journey through therapy is short. Good luck with your daughter too.. maybe she will learn from Daniel!
