Changes in eating
My son has been eating less than he used to when he was less than two months. Between 1-2 months of age, he ate about 6oz of formula every 2-2.5 hours. Since his two-month appointment he has been eating about 4oz every 3-3.5 hours. Sometimes he'll go 12 hours without eating (when he's sleeping). He still has enough poopy and wet diapers a day. I'm just concerned that he's not going to grow very much. He's about 13 lbs now. Has anyone experienced anything like that?

My daughter is 9 months and a very healthy weight and her eating habits have changed so much I've lost count. Everytime I'd think I needed to start offering larger bottles she'd slow down. Now she's supposed to have 16 unces a day along with table foods and some days I have the hardest time getting that in her and other times she eats like a maniac. Their bodies go through a lot of changes in the first year so you never know what will affect the appetite. My opinion was as long as she was pooping and peeing and acting fine I didn't worry.

My daughter is about to be 8 months old and I swear she is hitting a growth spurt. She eats two solid meals a day plus about 32 ounces of milk. She has changed her eating habits a lot, but the only time she ate less was when she first started teething. She didn't break through her gums for like 3 months after that, but she had started teething around 3 months. I wouldn't be worried as long as he eats when he is hungry he should be fine. You never want to force them to eat, and as I am sure you already know they will let you know when they are ready to eat. Good luck.

Thanks Patty and Naomi. Elijah has been doing a lot better at letting me know when he's full. My husband keeps telling me that his growth spurt will slow down otherwise he would double his weight every two months. I'm glad to know that my son is not the only one going through these changes.
