Hi Jody.....I am thrilled to be a part of the group. If you are Homeschooling two boys, 8 and 6, I am sure realized that the attention span is limited, especially in most boys ages 6-10. I will be more than happy to share my experiences over the past seven years. I have tutors more boys than girls. Boys in your son's age group are all about numbers. Meaning, give them a time limit to get an assignement done, number of pages, problems, etc. They will not do a great deal of reading unless you quote a number of pages that must be done. Stick to your program, do not detour. Example: boys will look at a book and is first concern about how many pages. Girls will look at the book and read the introduction. (Most cases) ....ALso, check out my website, www.myreadingclubcafe.com, as a member, you will have a tutorial website available to your kids, any parent.

Thank you and I look forward to getting to know you better. Thanks for the site. My oldest son is oddly enough really into reading. My younger son is just starting to learn to read better (He's actually in Kindergarten he just turned 6 in Jan). My older son just turned 8 in March too. It's funny how different my boy's are from each other LOL. The older one is more laid back and learns really quickly where as my youngest would be more like what you were saying not wanting to sit still for a long period of time. So far he enjoys learning to read but I am sure that may change. My oldest though has really enjoyed reading. It's writing he doesn't like to do LOL. Thanks again.
