5:00 A.M. is klilling me...
My two year old gets up between 5 and 5:30 EVERYDAY! He is a VERY active 2 year old and I work nights, so he is up from 5 until 2 (When I go to work) when he takes a nap with the babysitters, so I do not get a break. He is even up that early on the weekends so either my husband or myself have to get up with him. Some mornings (especially toward the end of the week) he will get his diaper changed, then I will let him take a sippy cup and a cereal bar to his room and listen to music until 6:30 so I can go back to sleep but I still hear him. We have tried moving his bedtime later in hopes that he would sleep in and that did not work (it just made him cranky the next day), He does not actually sit and watch tv just listens to it and plays and he is a "Brutus" (believe me it is a term of affection) so I do not want to put a tv in his room for fear he would knock it over. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to train him to sleep until atleast 6:30. All my friends with kids say there 2-3 year olds do not get up until 7:30-8:00, I would love one solid week of up at 6:30. Any suggestions? This has been going on for over a year and it is killing me.

what time is his bedime? I really dont have many suggestions except maybe put him to bed around 10 and see how t goes, it could still take a few days or a few weeks, also maybe cut his nap out. My daughter wakes up around 6 but will go back to sleep with me on the couch until somewhere between 7 and 8. Is he still in a crib or a big bed.Maybe put a gat up at his door , so he couldnt comew out and see if got back in his bed after a little while of playing by hiself.

I feel for you. First of all, how many hours of sleep does he get at night? My son is 18 months old now, but he use to get up early around 6am. I was putting him to bed around 8:30. I made the slow transition to putting him to bed earlier 15 minutes every few nights earlier) and now he goes to bed at 7:45pm and sleeps to 7:30am. I read in a good sleep habit book for kids that when they don't get enough sleep, they wake up earlier, not nap well, get cranky, etc. Think of them like being overtired and having a hard time staying asleep. They should be getting 11-12 hours of sleep a night. Hope this helps and good luck!

My son goes to bed between 7:45 and 8:00 every night, my husband works construction so he is up early but also to bed early and since I work nights, switching to a later time just will not work for us. He takes about a 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap during the day. I am just not sure what to do and since he has always been an earlier riser I sometimes think that is just the way he will be. He never has a problem going to bed at night and most of the time tells us that it is nighty night time, or nap time. I do try to let him play in his room as much as I can first thing in the morning but even that does not last more than 45 minutes (which is still before 6 a.m.) LOL
