How long?
How long does it usually take y'all to do lessons for a day? I know it's not supposed to take nearly all day but my son is breezing through the end of 1st grade. We've gone from taking 1-2 hours to do our lessons to him finishing in 30-45 minutes. We're almost finished with 1st grade anyway but I was just curious.

Well I think it all really depends on the curriculum and grade level. My Kindergartner/first grader finishes it in about an hour or so. My 2nd/3rd grader finsihes in a couple hours or so. We usually start at about 8am and end at about 10:30 or 11 am. I think it all just depends though. Granted not 8 hours like schools but everyone is different.

With mine....it has just depended on the determination of the child...I have some who finish very quickly...and some who drag it out all day long...with being in 1st grade...sounds like it is fine...just may need to have some quite reading time in the afternoons...readings of his choice to encourage more of that...maybe going to the library to enforce things are subjects you have been covering...sounds like you are doing great!

Blessings,
Hayley

My kids are 12 and 16 and if they are on task and have don't have any of the longer reading passages, school is done in an hour. If they are whiny and trying to avoid doing schoolwork, it can take all flippin' day long. You'd think they'd get the idea that the longer they act up, the longer it takes, but they still have those days where they act up.

Ours depends on the day. My son is in 2nd grade, and we probably do between 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. But on days we are busy with other things, I will focus more on the basics. On some days, things just take longer.
When other people ask, I usually round up to 3-4 hours. He spends a lot of time reading, etc, so I figure I can count that.
But as long as your son is learning, and you think it is enough, I wouldn't worry about the time factor. Kids learn in so many different ways.
