I so need to vent!
I was just reading an article on msn.com about the recent child abuse taking place at the polygamist camp in Texas where they just removed over 400 children. From the time infants were born, they were abused in this camp...women were scared to stand up to their abusive husbands because the children would be abused if they did. Some of the quotes taken from a woman who escaped the camp years back were so terrible...tears came to my eyes.
How is this happening? Why aren't these camps monitored more?
I understand religious freedom is important, but no kind God would want this taking place. This is hiding under the name of God to do evil, and it needs to stop.
Those poor poor children.

As a journalist who had followed the activity of this groups was mentioned that this practice has been going on for 100 years and he does not expect this people to stop their lifestyle tomorrow.
However, I am puzzled how it is possible to enforce the law in some many matters and we are not able to punish polygamy, incest and underage forced marriage!
By the way women are the primary victims in this situation.

| Well put Lauren , I don't think I could have said it better myself . Let's just hope it all works out for the better.I just keep think what a hold the men have over the women . Then today in the new's they found a bed of some sort in the church it self . |

| I heard about the story and was so sickened by ti I couldnt even read it.Those men need to be dead.Those poor children will be messed up for the rest of their lives because of it.The 1 bad thing about being molested in cases like that is that it follows from 1 gen to another.Thats whats so sad about it! |

| u know what? this is such a SICK SICK SICK thing....come on...i agree with you and religious freedom but not at the oppression of others! my husband was telling me about it and my skin was just crawling. i can't believe that people can be so BAD.... |

| I think the worst part is knowing the hopelessness of those who know it is wrong and want to get out. If they try to leave they don't hurt the individual, they hurt those closest to them. I had heard that some of the women are afraid to speak out or try to leave because other women will claim their children and they would have to leave their children behind. Thank God for DNA testing and God bless the judge(s) that ordered it. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel for some of these people. |

| I feel so bad for the children because I wonder how later in life that they are going to act.I mean what are you going to do w em?Ppl are going to know who they are because of all the publicity.Are they going to damn them?Children can be cruel.Omg look at that girl my mom says shes inbred and a bastard.I hope that the judge who takes care of this can see to change names and cities so that no one can hurt the children as they grow up.Some of the stronger older women in the group that still believe what they did was right need to go to jail along w the men.I hope they all get a fair shake at beginning new lives away from that mess. |
