i will be flying next month across country by myself with he will be then 11 month old son. i was wondering if anyone has any advice. i can get a ticket for him but the thought of draging his car seat(its one of those big convertible car seats because he doesnt fit his infant carseat anymore) and stroller and my carry on from one flight to the next(because there are no direct flights) doesnt sound like fun to me. but then trying to hold him in my lap on a 6hour flight doesnt sound like fun either so any advice would be helpful |

I traveled with my daughter and my 1 years old son (at the time)...he just sat on my lap...I nursed during take off and landing...to help with his ears....he did very well...and holding him wasn't too big a problem...but the longest flight I had was 3 1/2 hours...

One thing to think of...If you do bring a car seat, they will make you have him buckled in, making it impossible to nurse for take off and landing. I wanted to have one for my daughter (we were flying to Honolulu, 11 hour flight) but knew that I NEEDED to nurse at those times.
Even on the flights that had an open seat next to me, she was on my lap anyway. |

Yep, I did the same as Hayley...it was nice that I had my mom with me because we flew to Guadalajara, so we traded off and my daughter was 9 months at the time so she moved around a lot! When we got to Dallas it was a big challenge dragging ourselves to the next flight, so good thinking about the stroller! I would say just forget the carseat and hold off on his nap, maybe he will sleep through most of it, take some activities, and hold on tight! |
