head bump
I have a really bad one, only my fiancee has heard this story. I was at the doctors with my then 5 month old daughter (she is now 6 months) and they had to give her 4 different shots, By the time they finished she was screaming, and of course they walk out of the room and leave you with a screaming infant. well i tried everything to calm her, but nothing was working. I put her back on the table to get her bottle. I turned around for all of two seconds to shake it, and when i turned back she had rolled on to the floor. I was so scared I couldnt stop my hands from shaking. But i couldnt tell if she was crying from the shots, or the floor. But I didnt want to call the doctor back in to tell him that i let my daughter fall off the exam table!! I ended up leaving (she stopped crying after we walked out of the room). she is obviously fine, but i was so scared that i had done something to her, and that I had done something really stupid by not asking the doctor to come in. She is obviously fine, but that was like the worst night of my life.

Don't feel so bad. When my oldest was less than a month past her first birthday, she was toddling around my in-laws' house. I was right behind her, kind of chasing her and playing, and she tripped on the rug and smacked the corner of the coffee table! I grabbed her up and took her into the kitchen, where my hubby and in-laws were, and all of a sudden my mother in law says, "she's bleeding." The poor kid had split the top of her head open all the way down to the skull! We rushed to the E.R. where they tried to get her to relax or sleep so they could do a scan. They thought she might have a small skull fracture. That's when I lost my composure!

Anyway, after 4 staples and an overnight stay for observation, she is a normal, healthy (and too smart for her own good) preschooler. Kids are tough. God made 'em that way. :-)

I know how you feel. My daughter was on the changing table and I strapped her in and walked away for a second to see what the dog was getting into and she fell off. I feel HORRIBLE!!! I have strapped her in and turned my back for a second before and nothing has happened, but this time I was so distracted by the dog that I honestly don't know what I was thinking. I checked her over and I think she is going to be just fine, more scared than anything.

I've done something like that, I had my then just turned 4month old son in his swing and I went to the bathroom(things always happen while I'm in the bathroom) and when I came out he was screaming and on the floor right under the swing. He had fallen out of his swing and landed right under it, I picked him up and he stopped crying and just looked at me like 'why did you let me fall?'...I mean before he turned 4 months he had NEVER squirmed so I had never thought about strapping him in, I never strapped him into the bouncy seat either but after that day I have strapped him in to both the bouncy and the swing

When my daughter was around 3 months old I was carrying her around in the kitchen when I saw something on the floor. I bent over to pick it up and I hit her head of the corner of the chair. She just started screaming! I felt so bad. I was crying harder than she was at one point.
