So my son is in the >50th percentile for height.... but only the 7th for weight!! He's healthy, but I still want to get some more weight on him. At the doctor, 16 months, he was only 21 lbs. He is always active and won't hold still long enough to eat much.... plus I think he gets bored unless I feed him several different foods during the meal. He is a pretty good eater, but sometimes he just refuses to eat certain things; even things he liked before. He doesn't like fried foods or butter, so I can't sneak those in much. He loves his whole milk, but also water and juice sometimes. He likes pasta, but gets sick of it. Doesn't like potatoes. Loves veggies! Any ideas? Thanks!!! |

How about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You can buy healthy ingredients for these (skippy has a peanut butter without any trans fats and it does not have to be in the fridge or have to be stirred... always look for the item with the least ingredients. I also buy low sugar preserves). My little girl is 16 months old and can sometimes be a tad on the picky side too. She loves peanut butter and jelly, grilled cheese (which I often sneak ham or turkey into), and quesadillas. Best wishes to you |

You can try broccoli quiche, so you have the carbs, and the eggs, and the sour cream and the veggie. Another great one is homemade meatball, make it half the regular size. The easier to eat the more the chance of success!

I slip real butter in to my sons spaghettie sauce and all veggies, also just the addition of olive oil or other oils to his regular sauces adds fats. My son was failure to thrive until he was 6 |

Rice Cakes with peanut butter-(Laura Scudders is a good brand. The only ingredient is peanuts. Trader Joe's also sells good peanut butter), or cream cheese, or organic jam/jelly.
Homemade chicken nuggets. cooked carrots, brocolli, corn.
Brown rice with veggies of his choice. Cook the brown rice in chicken broth. It will give it more flavor.
A bowl of Oatmeal for breakfast Use Organic Sugar instead of the refined sugar. Add a little milk, organic sugar, and banana sliced into quarters.
Saute in olive oil pasta noodles and parmesan cheese.
Offer him organic yogurt, the kind with the live cultures-brown cow, mountain high. The good ones can be found in a health food store or Trader Joes. |

Julie, I wouldn't worry about it too much, while growing up, my brother was super skinny, we used to call him "bony maroni...he's as skinny as a stick of macaroni!". He just had a high metabolism, that's probably the deal with your son. My brother is nice and healthy and muscular now! Good luck to you! |
