New to group, anyone heard of slim in six?
Hello my name is Renee I am 26 and am a mom of a 10 week old baby girl, I gained 80 lbs while pregnant with Sophia, I was 128 lbs (I am 5'4) when I got pregnant and 208 by the end of my prengnacy. I am currently 190 lbs and I do not seem to have the energy to exercise or if I start to diet then I do it for a week and stop because I end up letting myself get so hungry I end up quitting and eating something quick and fattening or I end up over eating. Today I was watching tv and I saw this program called slim in six and it looked good I wanted to know if anyone here ever heard of it or tried it and what they thought of it, I did not know if I should order it. Also I was curious if anyone had any ideas about losing weight. Thank you for any advice that anyone can give me.

From,
Renee

Renee,

I haven't heard of slim in six, but I gained 70 pounds with my pregnancy. I joined weight watchers. It teaches you good nutrition, portion control, healthy exercise. It isn't fast, but it works. My daughter is 8 months old and I only have two more pounds to lose. I also did it before my wedding and lost 65 pounds then. I maintained the weight loss for a year and a half until I got pregnant.

Renee first let me welcome you to our group. I would like you to know that you are not alone. I hope that through this entire site you find the moral and emotional support you are looking for. Please feel free to send me messages personaly whenever you need to vent. I also have not heard of slim in six, but I do have some ideas on how to lose the weight. I have been working out steady again now for 4 weeks. I have lost 4 pounds. It isn't much, but I have also gained muscle. I just started measuring myself last week so this coming Monday I will measure myself again. However, my husband and I only cut out the sever things in our diet. We cut out the fastfood not totaly, but less often now we maybe eat from a fastfood restaurant maybe 1 time a week. We have added more vegetables and whole grains into our diet and the recommended portion size for meat. You also should know that when you are dieting to eat more meals just smaller portions. This helps your metabolism and enables you to feel like you have eaten enough throughout the day. We also cut out pop/soda. If I decide to have 1 I will get diet so there are no calories in it. I try to watch calorie intake, but I am not obsessive about it. ensure that water is your number one source of beverage. It clears out your system. Then look at the inches you lost more then the weight because you will show there before you show on the scale beacuse you will be gaining muscle as well as losing the fat and as we all know muscle weighs more then fat. I hope this helps you a little. I am not a professional or anything, but if you have any friends or significant other to workout with and eat healthy with it makes it easier. I know it would be really hard if my husband wasn't trying to eat healthy as well. Let me know if you need anything.

Thank you both for replying to me. I have heard great things about weight watchers. Are you doing it online or doing the meetings in person? I actually think that would be good for me because I am not good at actually knowing how to eat properly. I love food, but not food that is good for you, and I tend to eat fast which makes me eat more.

In 2006 I lost 60lbs from eating lean cuisines, balance bars, and cereal. That was all I ate I would not eat anything else except for fruit. And it was great I lost the weight and I went to the gym every day but I did not learn how to eat properly. Then when I got pregnant I used that as an excuse to eat everything and anything. I gained 20 lbs in the first trimester.

It just seems so hard now because I have all these bad food ideas in my head, like Sundays me and my fiance go out to breakfast and I eat a pancake, three eggs, toast, and homefries. I have started associating food with having a good time. Because Rob's parents watch Sophia on Sundays, it is the only day he has off, and we start the day with breakfast then we do whatever errands we have to do.

I think the best thing for me to do right now is to try to cut down on my portions and try to go for a walk everyday with Sophia and I think when I see myself lose a little weight it will make me have the drive to really lose weight.

Thanks again and I am so glad I joined this group.

From,
Renee

When I lost 65 pounds before my wedding, I went to the weight watchers meetings every week. It really helped me to be accountable for my weight. Now that I'm not working, it is a little pricey, but I still know how to do the program, so I am just doing it on my own. This morning when I weighed myself, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight! I like tracking my weight, though, and at slimfast.com, they will track your weight for you and it is free. They will also give you a recommended weight for your height and a meal plan that is right for you. Of course, it includes their products. I just use it for something to track my weight that doesn't cost anything. I also have a friend who is doing the South Beach diet with exercise, and that is working well for her. The first stage is kind of restrictive, and the second stage is a little restrictive as well, but the idea is that you learn healthy eating, and by the time you are at your goal, you have learned a healthy lifestyle you can maintain. I'm also 5'4'' and am currently 150 pounds which is what I was when I found out I was pregnant. I'd like to get back to my wedding weight, though, of 135. For weight watchers, the most they say you should weigh according to the BMI is 145, so I still have 5-15 pounds to go. I've met my first goal, though! Good luck to you, and let us know how it goes!
