My daughter will be 3 in May and I have been trying to potty train her....here is the thing, she knows everything about the bathroom but she refuses to go. Every time I put her on the toilet she cries. I have done everything I can think of to getting a little treasure chest with toys for a "prize" I have tried a sticker system, to a small potty.......I am at a loss. When she goes to the bathroom with me she wants to flush the toilet after and talks about pottying....she has always been interested in it, as long as she isnt the one that has to do it. Can anyone give me any advice on what I should try? |

I wouldn't push the issue, my son turns 3 this month, he decided on his own oen that he wanted to wear underwear and isnow on his way to be potty trained, but he to gave me a hard time with going back and forth, but I never pushed him I kept rewarding him when he went, we used the sticker system and when he finnished filling up the chart he gets and new train, now we're filling one a week and he has even started pooping on the potty, but once I went to underwear, I never went back, they will have accidents but that is the only way they learn when they need to go. |

That is what I figured, I have laid off. I dont want to push b/c I dont want to scare her...which in the end may make her regress. So I have just stopped and will just have to wait it out. Thanks!! |

I would say don't just stop fully, as u will have to start again from scratch. Keep doing a little bit so that her interest does not go down.
My son will be 21/2 next month and is already potty trained (with of course a few mishaps sometime........like one in 20 days when he holds on his pee for so long that finally he can hold no longer..........but potty he goes perfectly)
Well i used to encourage him by getting excited myself. When in the starting whenever he used to pee in the potty i used to get so excited, would clap for him and infact call his dad in his office and ask him also to clap.........ya i know it sounds silly but it used to work. Besides that i used to also keep him fully open for short periods.........when they r open they usually are more able to feel their urge.
I hope this helps |

Yeah I spoke with her pediatrician to get an idea about what I should do. They suggested the same thing. So I figure I will wait a week or two then try again. Thanks for the advice, I do appreciate it. ;o) |
