Sick baby confession
My daughter has an ear infection and she hasn't really been acting sick until today. She woke up in a good mood and just as quick as that went screaming for the next hour and then she was fine again. It's almost like she's going through pms as a baby! So I gave her a piece of toast for breakfast and as she was putting a piece in her mouth, I noticed a cat hair on it. Not wanting to start more screaming... I let her eat it, cat hair and all! That's so gross, but the screaming was insane. I know her ears hurt her so I try and be patient, but my ears hurt after her screaming:( Then I gave her a bottle and she was feeding herself when I lok over and she's sipping on it falling asleep. She wasn't in her crib, she was laying on a boppy pillow. I didn't want to start the screaming again, so for the first time I let her fall asleep with a bottle. It eventually fell out of her mouth, but I still know that it's not good to do. I guess that's how today is going to go for a while so that she isn't going into a screaming fit causing herself to throw up.

If she has ear infection it can be really painful especially when she is laying down. Are you giving her antibiotics? Maybe Tylenol could also alleviate the pain.

are you sure it's an ear infection? Have you tried warm oil in her ear?
I know the screaming think sucks my daughter does the same thing but as long as daddy holds her she is fine. So when he is busy it is tough around here. Good luck

Well, if it makes you feel better, ever since I stopped breastfeeding, my son always falls asleep with his bottle! We check in on him after we are certain he's asleep and remove it from the crib, but I have no problem with this technique. I guess the books do, though!
Guess that's my confession for the day

I know she has an ear infection because I took her to the doctor and they said she has one. I also have been giving her tylenol and her medicine to help her feel better. I realize that ear infections are painful, I get them quite frequently myself. My point in this was that I was letting her get her way so that she wasn't upset today as well as the grossness of having a cat hair on her food and my looking the other way to not start another fit. Thank you all for your suggestions.

I completey understand about turning a blind eye for things that are a little gross but really won't hurt in the end. Also, I don't know why, but putting a hair dryer on low by your little one's ear will help her feel better =)

Occasionally letting your baby fall asleep with a bottle does not make you a bad mom. Trust me, I have two, and my husband and I work opposite shifts, so I'm almost always alone with my girls. And some nights, it's just better to give them the bottle and walk away. Moms need sanity too!!

Hi,

And I have two cats!! Thanks for posting about the cat hair. It has happened to me too and now I don't feel like the only one. I guess this forum is good for that. Although we try the darnedest to keep our home clean- the cats win many times over. Indoor cats are known to shed more often. This has happened a few times and I say to myself- Okay, at least I KNOW where/who :) that came from and it's not some unidentifiable piece of "grime/poo/whatever" from the streets.
She's a beautiful little girl and I hope she get well.
