LOTS of pictures!! I put a ton of pictures of my dh up before he left in frames all around the house at my kids level so when he left they could carry around the picutres, tell me who he was....etc. Also take lots of pictures of the two of them and put those up with the others so that she will see them together. People also record their dh reading stories to play for their kids so they don't "forget" his voice. Good Luck! |

My husband leaves in October. When he left the first time my son was only 3 months old. This time is going to be different because Michael is older now. The reply sent before me works wonders. And the story readings are great for bed times too because it's almost like you are all three there together. Best of luck. This next one coming up will be my 3rd deployment. They suck, but hey, they gotta do what they gotta do ya know. Hugs, Jamie |

The first time my husband left after our daughter was born, she was only 4 and 1/2 months old and he came back when she was almost 11 months old....and this time she is almost 2 so she has a better concept of who daddy is....I know they have to do it and I understand that my husband loves what he does and he was military when we got married....this is his 4 deployment since we have been together so I am used to it...but it is a little harder for a 2 year old to understand that it is like daddy going to work and not coming home for 6+ months....thanks for the advice and good luck with your husbands being gone everyone! Hope to hear from you all again soon... |
