We Just Moved To Bridgton Maine Last Month

I am so sorry to hear about that. Here are a few suggestions. We just moved too, so I did most of these myself.

Do you belong to a church? Check with them to see if they know of any other SAHM that would be interested in meeting.

Does the library offer any type of children's program? 9 months is perfect for story time. You can also meet other people that way.

Get online on websites like this site, clubmom, cafemom, babyfit, meetup (they have 2 groups in Naples 11 miles from you), etc. See if you can find any ladies in the area.

Check Craigslist.com that is close to you and see if there are any playgroups listed or maybe you could initiate one. I found my first playgroup that way, before I moved to town and LOVED those ladies, still keep in touch with them and we moved 6 months ago.

Check with your pediatrician or maybe the local hospital. Our hospital here has a group for moms that's free 1 time a week for moms with kids under 1 or 2. I have heard it's a great way to meet other moms. Alot of Peds know of things in your area that others may not. Some offices even host their own.

Check to see if there is a local MOPS (Mother of Pre-Schoolers). This does have a fee for a year, but I have friends in it that LOVE it! They meet twice a month for a few hours and do crafts, have speakers, talk, eat, and even have girls nights out without the kids. It's for any Pre-School kid, meaning kid 0-5 roughly.

See if there is a newcomers group or gymboree group that meets regularly.

Get out and do things during normal working hours. I know it's hard in the cold, but it's going to get warmer soon. Try to go to parks, the mall (especially when your baby crawls/walks - a play structure). You may see the same people at the park each week and then can start conversation.

Do you breastfeed?
The Mom's Milk Breastfeeding Support
Meets every other week
‘Mom’s Milk’, the breastfeeding support group at Bridgton Hospital, meets every other Monday staring August 13 from 10AM to 11AM. They will meet every other Monday through the remainder of the year. The support group meets in the family quiet room at the hospital. The support group leader/consultant will be International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Crystal Coen, RN, or Laurie Dougherty, RN, Certified Lactation Counselor. For further information contact Crystal Coen at the Special Delivery Family Birthing Center, 207-647-6000 ext. 6128, or visit the Bridgton Hospital website at www.bridgtonhospital.org.

I hope these items really help you out, or at least get you thinking in different ways. GOOD LUCK! Let me know if I can help you out in any other way.

I would definitely try the meetup group route. The website is simply www.meetup.com. They normally a relaxed group that has things on the calendar in the area. Even if you don't particularly find anyone there you will learn alot about the area and what it has to offer. We moved when I was 8 months pregnant and I have found some great friends through this!
