I was told it might be easier for my child to sleep through the night (he's not yet - he's 3.5 months old, but adjusted age is 8 weeks) if I DON'T have him on a feeding schedule. I don't see how that matters. But I was told he needs to get used to sleeping as long as possible so if he's on a feeding schedule, he'll never learn to sleep longer than the 3-4 hours between feedings. Note: I had my son on a 3 hour feeding schedule but only until 11 pm. After 11 pm, I let him sleep as long as he would. Also, I woke my son after a 3 hour nap yesterday to feed him. I was told I shouldn't have woken him up - get him trained to sleep longer than 3 hours and it'll help in getting him to sleep all night. I keep reading not to let your child sleep for more than 3 hours at a time during the day. But this person told me I can't believe everything I read. I just didn't want him to be up all night either (because of sleeping all day). I am so confused, I don't know what to do. Did anyone who was on a feeding schedule have trouble with getting their child to sleep through the night? What's your suggestion on napping? Thanks.
