Hello
Hi- My name is Michelle and my son's name is Carlos who is 3. I think I need some advice on potty training because although he has the concept down, he hasn't actually gone yet. His birthday was Jan. 22 so he is a very young 3 yr old, it's just that diapers are so expensive and since I'm a single parent, life would be so much easier if I didn't have the task of changing him.
PLEASE!! I'll take any and all suggestions on this topic. Thanks.
Michelle

Hello, I am currantly trying to potty train my 20 month old little girl, and it is not going that well, mostly because she has a speech problem and she can't tell us when she has to go. But I found out that if you decorate the potty with bright stickers or their favorite cartoon stickers the potty will be more appiling to them. Also another suggestion is to have him help you make up a reward sticker chart and have him pick out the stickers he wants to use, and tell him for everytime he goes poop on the potty he can pout one sticker on his chart, and then after so many stickers he can get a reward, they don,t have to be something extravagent, I found that the simplest things are the best, like an exter story before bed, or to watch a movie with mommy, take a trip to the park on a weekend, have an ice cream sunday after dinner on the weekend, things like that, and after he goes for one month straight tell him he can get something bigger, like a new toy. But the most important thing is not to give up and keep trying at it, rember he didn't learn to eat in one day it took him several months and it will take him a while to lean to poop on the potty, Also he might not like how his poop looks in the potty and if that is the case, try putting the potty lid down on his back when he is sitting on the potty and that way when he gets up the lid will fall down and cover up the poop and he won't have to see it. I hope these tips work for you. Sorry so long but if you need more tips write me back cuz I got a bunch of them.
Jaimie, good luck.

To All Who replied to this post: Thank you so much, especially Jamie (I love long notes). I've tried M&Ms as a reward but it didn't work. The chart sounds like a great idea because it would be a visual aid for the process. Carlos is funny though, he likes to see the poop but Mommy definitely doesn't. GAG!! What a necessary but yucky topic..........You all have a great weekend.
