My teen son is having issues with feeling happy inside. Anyone else experience that? |

I have struggled with depression since I was a teen. A visit to a counselor wouldn't be out of line to help determine what the problem is and how to deal with it. |

I don't think this is uncommon with teens. Between all the hormones raging and what goes on in the world. You should consider counseling for him, it sounds like he is reaching out for help by letting you know how he is feeling. |

Make sure you take your son's problems seriously. Clinical depression is very common in teen years and if left untreated, it can cause major problems in the future.
Counseling is very important. |

My teen is very unhappy. She was diagnosed with depression. I am making it mandatory for her to go to counseling. |

What is his passions? What does he love to do? There has to be something that he enjoys doing. Maybe if it is art you could find a community center that offers classes or even just buy an art kit for him. Whatever his passions. Therapy is good, but unhappiness in teens is a normal development. As long as he is feeling hopeful for his future, he is going through the normal teenage feelings. Talk to him about his passions and if you feel that the things he is saying lead to depressed thoughts, then get him help. |
