Hey ladies. I am a new mom with a 7 month old. I can't get him to eat baby food! He wants nothing to do with the spoon! Anyone have any advice on how I can get him to eat??? |

Well, what I did is first making my son familiar with taste. o I was putting a little bit of cereal into his bottle (not recommended, truth, but it was just few times so he could get an idea, it's yammy). Than I start feeding him the same cereal with my finger and he took it as he recognized the taste which already got asociated with milk and bottle. And after few times I tried with the spoon, just the small one and the cereal wa only on the tip of the spoon. But once it got to his mouth, just touched it, he recognized the taste again and took it. I don't know if it will work for You but I guess it should. Just don't push with the spoon. Some babies may be affraid at first. You can also give him the spoon to play with while You feed him with Your finger. Good luck. Sylwia |

Start out with rice cereal. The brand might make a difference. My daughter didn't like Gerber - she liked Beechnut. Also, she didn't like it mixed with formula or breastmilk..she liked it with water. Sometimes it takes at least 15-20 consistent tries before a baby warms up to a new taste. Keep at it, he'll eat it eventually. (Also, try not to serve it around the same time you've given him milk..he'll be less likely to be hungry enough to give it a try.) good luck! :) |

Hi! At first my son would not stay focused so I went out and bought fun spoons. I found spoons that make music, you can also try using one spoon and giving him his own. It will be messy, but fun. |

Hello again! You can also try making your own. Just put one type of food in a blender add as much water needed to make it runny, blend it and freeze it an ice cube tray. Transfer it to freezer bags to freeze. Vegetables and fruit keep three months and meat 2 weeks. Some baby foods have too much salt or sugar and some are not the propper consistancy. |

Lyann,
Are you strictly breastfeeding? If so, you don't need to introduce solids. Your baby will get enough nutrients from your breastmilk. You will learn as time goes on, it is all about trial and error. If you feed him foods, it may/may not matter how it is mixed, what brand it is. There are so many things as I am sure you have realized. What worked for our first daughter, doesn't work for our second. All I can say is good luck and if he is still gaining weight and seems happy I would not worry about it. |
