Does your daughter drink from a sippy? Well my daughter started drinking from a sippy cup at 15 months, but water only, so she still had her bottle for milk. But when she was 18 months, I just took the bottles one day and hide them away. Then just gave her her milk in a sippy, she never really missed it, I just occupied her mind on other things and she maybe fussed for a day, that was it. good luck!! |

Your 26th month ols should be excited about being a big girl, I would start there, does she like to color or do other things that the 15 month old still can not do? If yes then when she is doing those activities I wouls start telling her you are so proud of her for being a big girl and big girls do not use bottles, also the sippy cup thing is where I started with my son. i know it will be harder since her sibling is still using one as well but it is not to early to start the sippy cup on the 15 month old, for snacks and so on and then just giving the 15 month old a bottle in the morning or before bed (whatever your schedule is) Good luck. Who knows maybe you can get them both off of it and then start the potty training. |

My daughter was switched to a sippy cup at 11 months. Unless you have a reason for keeping the 15 month old on a bottle I would honestly switch them both. The bonus is that you won't have to go through it again with the 15 month old when she is older. Just an idea. |

I have an 8 year old boy who I got off at 14 months, but my girls they are fight for it more.My 26 month doesn't want to be a big girl. So it's making things a little harder. I have tried a couple time taking both off but then I never get any sleep during night time. They cry forever. Thanks for the idea's and I'll try again. |

You could try putting water in the bottles and juice and milk in the sippy cups when they know the good stuff is in the sippy cups they will proabably not pay attention to the bottle anymore. You might not get sleep for a night or two but you will be thankful when its all over, it may only take one night. |

How about weaning them both down to bedtime only? My friend has a 2 year old that wanted to continue on the bottle. She got her down to a morning and a bedtime bottle. She was told she couldn't take the bottle to a babysitter's. Then she told her that she couldn't have the bottle in the morning. Just an idea. |

I do have her down to nap time and bed time as of now, but with that she feels she need the bottle to go to bed. So not every night but almost every one she wakes up crying for a bottle so she go back to sleep. I guess I'll just try cold turkey and see how that goes. Thanks everyone for the ideas. |

Michelle, I wish you all the luck and I know it will be a tough few days but I found (with my son and his binky,or bottle, moving him from my bed to his crib or now potty training) that cold turkey is the only way to go. It is ssssssssooooooooo tough for those first few nights (and maybe even a week) but if you can hang in there it will all be over soon. Also please keep in mind that even at your daughter's age if you try cold turkey and then give in after a night or tow she will know that you will back down before she will and it will make things all that much harder. i found that out the hard way with the pacifier and paid the price. Good luck and keep up updated. |

My son is 18 months and has always had his bottle only for milk. I'm also considering moving him away from the bottles, which should not be hard since now he hardly wants to take them. The problem is that he doesn't seem to want much milk at all in any container. |

Af my son was the same way so i put a little strawberry syrup in it and he thought it was a differnt drink then I got him away from that and now he loves drinking milk in a sippy or in a cup with a straw. |

Thanks Michelle
I might try the strawberry. i tried chocolate and he looked at me as if I was crazy lol. I think part of it is the temperature as well, so I guess he'll probably take better to cold flavored milk. Previously he only liked his milk wam in a bottle. |

I would go ahead and get them both off the bottle. My daughters were both off the bottle before 10 and 11 months. It's so much easier. They will get over it pretty quickly. I had a hard time with the binky with my second, but we took it away cold turkey and she got over it within a few days. I got them both on the Nuby from Walmart first because it has a silicone spout that feels a lot like the nipple. Try that maybe it would work for you and you can move on. |

I have a 18 1/2 month old and she only would drink juice or water from a sippy and so I started to eliminate morning bottle and replace it with a sippy w/milk. I kept it up for a while then went for lunch and then dinner...etc. Finaly she drinks all sippys with milk. its still a little hard but once in a while she gets chocolate milk (i barely put enough syrup to make it really chocolaty). I also had a rough time choosing sippy cups because she didnt like the spout on alot of them.
remember, you are the parent....dont let them call the shots, if its time for a sippy...it's time for a sippy. |

abby mentioned something about a "nubby" from walmart...those are good cause they are used to that rubbery nipple like tip. definatly try those...plus, they are super cheap so you wont feel bad if they dont like it. |
