My son has sensory integration disorder
My two and a half year old son recently got diagnosed with SID. He also has apraxia. He has been in early intervention since he was born because he had seizures as an infant. He is hypo and hyperactive in his sensory needs, mostly with touch. The OT gave me a whole list for his sensory diet and I am having trouble following it. I also have a 11 month old son.

Why are you having troubles following it?

Mostly because I have so many other things going on that it is hard to find time. My OT wants me to do heavy work every 2 hours and let him run outside every hour, and roll him in a blanket every few hours and squish him, and other things I cant think of right now. Oh like rub his gums with this little toothbrush thing for 5 minutes before he eats, now i know that sounds bad that I am complaining about 5 minutes, but I really feel like I cant even do that some days. We have a home business so between that, taking care of my other son, cooking, cleaning and everything else I have to do its hard. I know I need to just make time because thats what my little guy needs. Anyways I should probabley be outside with him right now instead of on the computer.

Yes, that's always tough. OTs have good strategies but sometimes -- especially if the OT doesn't have kids -- doesn't realize how difficult it is to follow a huge schedule (I'm an OT and I do have kids - so I get it!)
Have you tried the heavy work stuff like have him push the laundry basket when you need to do the laudry (add phone books if needed)? Or making it a game with both kids -- pushing his brother in the laundry basket? Could roll him in the blanket with the brother....while making the beds? doing laundry? Can you tell I do alot of laundry???
