What is your favorite homeschool story or funny joke about homeschooling? I'd like to hear about YOUR family here, but if there's one from somewhere else that you can't help but share, go right ahead! |

On a trip to Wal-Mart we were being checked out by a young man, that I think my 11yo daughter, Rachel, wanted to impress. The kids were talking about school and Daniel had mentioned that he was doing okay in math; but Rachel said that she didn’t do so well in math and there was no way she could ever do geology. We all laughed and before I could say anything Daniel brought up that geology is the study of “rocks and stuff” not math, and she said, “Oh, I mean geography.” Which brought a bigger laugh and I said, “Rachel, geography is learning about where places are. What are you trying to say?” “You know, Mom, that ‘g’ stuff Daniel does for math now,” she said. “OH! You mean geometry!” We all laughed at how silly it was. And as we began to leave I realized that Rachel was proudly wearing her “Homeschool Girl” T-shirt! So much for proving how advanced homeschoolers are! LOL

We're just in our third week of homeschooling, so I don't have any really funny stories yet. I'm sure they will come soon. :) There is one cute thing from our first week... Ian was so relieved to be done with his morning "school work" and have play time. About 5 minutes later, I turned to ask him something. He was sitting and reading a book that I had checked out from the library to use for school. I just left him alone and let him read! |

Reading for pleasure is different than reading for school. He'll probably get more out of it! |
