I need some advice. My daughter is the happiest baby. She smiles and laughs all the time. However, she recently started biting in the last month. She already has seven teeth. She bites my arm when I am holding her mostly. She has also started finger food in the last month. I am thinking that maybe this is happening as she can't yet differentiate between what is good to bite and what is not. I think it is normal, but not sure. Help a new mommy out :).
My son just turned a year old and he has been doing it awhile too. However, he only has four teeth at the moment. Is your daughter teething when she bites? Is she hungry? Can you tell if there is a point to the biting or not? I've noticed that my son does it more when he's teething (he's trying to bite my shirt but gets me sometimes).
My daughters ped said they also do it to show affection, my daughter would bite my shoulder or my leg when she got overly happy or excited, yet she never bit my hubby. The ped said that at that age they don't know how to deal with an overwhelming emount of emotion, and that is what they do, never the less, you should still say no biting in a stern voice regardless of understanding, they will come to understand if you are consistant.
