In Jan the FDA advised that children under 2 not be given any OTC cough or cold medicine instead they are suggesting usung a teaspoon of homey to sooth a childs cough. A study done by the researchers at Penn State Childrens' Hospital in Hershey PA compared a teaspoon of buckwheat honey, honey flavored cough suppresant and no treatment in 105 children with an upper respriratory tract infection and found that honey worked best at calming coughs. However they still say not to give honey to children under age 1 instead when an infant gets a cold or cough treat them with non-aspiran pain reliever and saline nose drops. |

The FDA does not reccomend this treatment for babies under the age of 1, that is correct Lexi..For those cases you can ask your dr. what to do. |
