Solids!
Did anyone happen to watch the Dr Phil show on friday about feeding infants solids etc??
I did not see it but my friend did and told me that it is now suggested that you only feed solids to babies who are 6 months old!!!!
Too late, I already started, now what to do - Do I continue feeding pureed carrot and rice for lunch and introduce other veggies and fruit or just feed him the rice and oatmeal till he is 6 months? He is now 5 months old????
Also when do you introduce the third meal?
Any suggestions? Thanks

I wouldn't panic. If your instinct told you it was time, you aren't harming him! Just keep doing what you're doing. My friend started her baby on solids at 5 months and he is just fine. My doctor told me to wait until 6 months also, but I have cereal and spoons at the ready just in case she starts showing a lot of interest in what I'm eating or isn't full by milk alone. Don't worry, you are just fine in my opinion.

My baby is 4 months old and I decided to start him on solids. He is a big baby, and I dont feel that milk alone is keeping him full. He is back to eating every 2 hours again. So I started him on cerel, just a little right before bed. And it has helped tremendously, he actually sleeps six hours at a time during the night.
Plus, they say to start them at 6 months because it reduces food allergies. But really our parents where started at 6 weeks and I know my parents dont have any food allergies. So really its just what you feel is best. After all its your child and who knows them better than you?

My daughter is five months old and I feed her whenever she wants it, and she usually gives me a good sign. She pushes the bottle away and whines. When she gets her baby food, she's just happy as can be! She eats 2-3 meals a day. I make her baby food myself. Her favorites are prune and oatmeal cereal, carrots and rice cereal, peas and also applesauce! As long as she gets 28oz of formula a day I'm good with that. She's a big girl length-wise-already in 9 month sleepers! I agree with the others, you know whats best-not anyone else!
