Amy, It's great to do your research and to find out what you could be passionate about selling to others and creating as your own business. By doing research you learn about all the many opportunities out there. Posting questions like this on several boards may be what you'll need to do. Then what I would do is go to the BBB and Rip Off Reports online to do more research. See what people are saying.
My choice was simple because I was born and raised on Shaklee's products, so it was a natural switch to go from just a cosumer to sharing it with others to improve their lives. My only advice is to make sure you are passionate about what you're doing and that you would love to share it with others.
So here's one place you can start, take a look at Shaklee. I have a great website you can go to learn more about the company, the opportunity and some of the amazing products they offer. Plus, you'll be entered into a drawing for $250 worth of free products. Please disregard the e-mail that is sent to you automtically from the system. www.goshaklee.info, password XE88705.
If you'd like to check out my website go to www.shaklee.net/kristingrayner. And if you'd like to speak to me via e-mail my address is graynerfamily@gmail.com.
Good luck to you! Kristin

Thanks for the response!! I am torn between selling something or doing something online. I have read about the Rebate processor, medical transcription and selling different products, just need to focus more. |

Remember, it's about passion and what fits you the best! Good luck and please feel free to contact me, even if it's not about Shaklee and you just want to bounce ideas off of someone!
Warm regards, Kristin |

Amy Working from home is great but you need to be a self motivated person to make it work. It is important that you treat it like a regular job with scheduled time to work if you wnat to make an income that is more than pocket money. After you decide that yo can do that then you definately need to do research. Look into a number of things a try to see what tyoe of work you want. I chose the home party route becasue I wanted to have contact with people both on the phone and face to face. It can be difficult to wolrk from home and have no contact with others. Let's face it, women are social people. If you decide to go the home party route or sales, find ot what excites you, what are you passionate about. Many of the companies out there are similar as far as comp plan but you need to make sure it is something that fits your life and fits you. I love play games and have all my life. I found a new company called SimplyFun that is all about bringing people face to face laughing and having fun through playing games. I literally get paid to play games. This company fits me and my family so it was perfect for us. If you enjoy games I welcome you to check out my company at www.janecampagna.simplyfun.com Good luck in yor decision and let me know what you decide to do. |

Hi Amy!
Ahhh, the joys of finding that one thing you can do to earn extra income! I think this was one of my hardest challenges in my life because you have so many people that can throw ideas your way but it is all about what is the right fit for you and your family. I agree 110% with Kristin on finding something you are sincerely passionate about. But remember when you are looking into a company you may not even know what you are yet passionate about because I know I didn't. Also, do your research on what you need to do with each company in order to get started. I too looked into the medical transcription. But there is a lot more to it. Most companies hiring want you to go to school for it and own your own transcription machine. So that right there was a big cost so I marked that off my list. I have never heard of the rebate processing but just make sure they are not scams. Check with the Better Business Bureau because you can look up pretty much every company. Or if it is a Network Marketing company check out the Direct Selling Association's website for those.
So a little about my journey. I first started with what I was previously doing. I ran a Mtg Processing Dept. for a few Mtg. brokers. So I thought....I could take a step down and process from home. Well I did that and I liked the income but I was extremely busy and still didn't have the time I needed with my son. I felt like I was fitting my son in and I really wanted it to be the other way around. I wanted him to be my priority and fit a little work in around his down time. So I stopped doing that because of the demand. Anyway, I then started researching all the Network Marketing Companies and just looking at what they had and what I might like. I looked at what companies had different ways you could do their business without just having to have parties or what have you. I personally found Arbonne to be the companie for me for so many reasons. One is because my hubby is a very conservative, fianancial guru and this was the only company he backed me up on because of the people he found in the business. I started out with just trying he products to see what they were all about. I figured if I didn't love them then it wouldn't be a good fit for me. Well needless to say I fell in love with them and would not use anything different knowing what I know now. I have become so much more educated on just what we put into our bodies and on our bodies. I mean I am not a freak about it but I definitely feel I could have made a few changes (Don't get me wrong...I still eat chocolate, love french fries and still hang out in the sun for a little sun bathing) So I am not an Angel and do not do everything right in my life that is good for me :) But anyway, I found something where I could redirect a few items in my home to Arbonne without having to change EVERYTHING in my home. I know...I can ramble at times and I could send you a really long message (as if this one is not long enough) I truly get so excited sharing my business with people and just hope that others are blessed with an opportunity to find something they love and are able to be home with their children. There are so many companies to look at and so many ways to earn extra income. Hopefully you can find one you would love and enjoy as well as be able to bring in a little extra money every money or a lot :)
Good Luck with all and do your research! I suggest it to everyone because you are the only one who will be able to see what is a fit for you and what is not.
Take Care Amy.

Thanks you all!! This is all great info, I keep seeing the scams, you can tell when you get on the site or when they send you junk mail!! Again thanks for the info. Good thing my son is in school full time so that would be prime working time for me. OK back to research.... |

Amy, an easy way to spot a scam...are there products/services involved? if not, usually not legal!
Legitimate companies are based on products or a service. I work with a company that manufactures its own products, but some do not. I didn't like the uncertainty of a company that doesn't invest in the research and development of products.
Just another thought for you!!! Good luck and let me know if I can help you further! :) |

One other thing I forgot to put out there. I find that there are a lot of "websites" or companies that will not truly disclose what they do unless you give them your info. Don't waste your time.....they will BUG you. |

Hi Amy, I don't know if you settled on something now since this is almost a month old.... I am a consultant with Mary Kay. I'm sure everyone has heard of that and has all kinds of opinions on it. I've been a sales director and drove the free car and all that. I don't anymore, but I still love the business and it consistently brings in $50-$100 extra a week for us, just from re-orders. Let me know if you want to know more about my story. Mary Kay is not perfect or easy but I don't believe anything is and I have gained so much from the company and the people associated with it....I love it. |
