In the Modern Moms guide to Dads Hogan Hilling has interviewed thousands of husbands in a group setting about marriage after children and here are some things he says we should know:
The marriage has to be strong and healthy to remain intact so spend some free time alone with your husband Have at least one date a month Have a frank discussion with your husband about sex (during and after each pregnancy) and listen nonjudgmentally Create a boundry between your marriage and other people (even your parents) Urge your husband to take as much time off as possible during the first six weeks of the baby's life (this will give him a chance to bond with the baby) Leave a recorded message on the answerign machine with all the important info on the new baby then turn the ringer off (this helps your husband not feel overwhelmed) Set rules and guidelines for visitation right after the baby comes home and stick to it no matter who the guests are.
