My baby is 6 months and has started baby foods. How baby food should she be getting on a daily basis? How often should I feed her these foods? Thanks for any help! I am new to this (as you can tell) and I want to make sure I am doing this right! |

We started with rice cereal and now we are doing vegetables. She has had green peas, carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. |

You're doing exactly what I did, and it seems to be working really well. I give my baby cereal (rice, oatmeal or barley--you introduce new cereal the same way you introduce new vegetables) and then a vegetable or fruit. She went through all the vegetables and is almost finished with fruits. You feed each new food to the baby for 4 days to make sure there is no allergy. I just watch for signs that she's full and that has taught me how much to feed her. I usually give her 3-4 Tablespoons of cereal and the same for the vegetable/fruit. Just be careful with bananas and applesauce--I fed those both exclusively and it bound my little girl up so bad! I had no idea! Good luck, you're doing just fine! |

I think Briana is right!! You are doing all the things right!! Is she a good eater??? My son is almost 7 months and loves his food!! He is actually on 2nd foods now because I've heard that once they can sit up on their own without support that's when you move to second foods. He eats a baby bowl full of cereal for breakfast...lunch, he gets a whole container of veggies, and for dinner he gets a whole container of fruit. Plus, babies still need the nourishment of formula or breastmilk, as well!! Good luck...I think you're on the right track!!! |

Her appetite will probably vary a lot from day to day. My son doesn't eat much when teething but otherwise has a good appetite even though it varies. At 6 monthes, he would eat a few tablespoons of food at a setting. |
