I have to admit that I am totally at my wits end with potty training.. I've tried everything from rewards to Chuckie cheese fruit snacks and reading on the potty. this is one strong willed kid and I'm about to lose my mind here! |

Are you using pull ups? My sister went the route of letting her pick out pretty panties and that is what she wore and after a few times of getting them dirty she was upset cause she ruined her pretty panties and started being more careful and went potty instead so she could get prettier ones. I see her theory because if I still had on a diaper then I know it's ok it will just get changed but having to be uncomfortable in wet clothes for a little while gets to them.... I would think....good luck I still have a bit to go my daughter is only 5 months |

Yes the days of potty training....they can be frustrating!!! What I used to do with my daughter was NOT let her wear pull-ups. Yes...we did have many accidents, but it seemed to work the best. She didnt want to have on wet underwear, so we'd change them and then I would take her to the potty and say"this is where you go pee"etc. My 2 boys I did the same thing with but they learned a little faster. |

If you are even getting your child to the potty, try to give a reward then. That is the first step. Go from there, when they do a stool in their diaper; put it in the toilet and let them flush it. My son has his own soap and loves to wash his hands(easy reward). When he urinates in his diaper, I let him take it to the garbage. Again he washes his hands. It is not for everyone. The main thing is not to push. They might not have to go, or just might be scared. Another thing you can do is have them in the bathroom with you when you go. I just sit on the potty a while, eventually he does too. It makes him feel big. I ask him if he needs to go a lot, but the answer is always "no". I just wait till next time and try again. It will get easier when the word potty comes. With my son the doctor told me to wait until he is atleast 2 and 1/2. It will make it hard to be ready for playschool. We will try! Good luck to you. |
