I just had to post this, my son is turning two years old tomorrow (Feb 21). I am just so amazed at how quickly it went. I mean do not get me wrong, when we were going through colic for nearly 6 months I never thought we would make it but in the sceam of things it has just gone so quickly. I am just feeling a little teary eyed tonight...LOL how silly .... |

Kyleen! I know what you mean! My daughter isn't 2 yet (she will be in June) but she was also colicky for about a year (colic ending at 3 months is such a lie, isn't it?!). I remember wishing away those colicky months, thinking they would never end, and now that they have I can't believe her growing older makes me teary eyed/reminiscent about them!!!! I hope that he had a great 2nd birthday!!!! BTW, I apologize for the overuse of exclamation marks ;) but I totally understand! |

Nikki, I agree about the 3 month thing, I just kept thinking to myself everyone said it would end and now he is 5 months old, BTW I actually started using gripe water (at that time you could only get it at healthfood stores but now everyone carries it) at 5 1/2 months and about two weeks later things were alot better. I do not know if it was just his time to be done or if it was the gripewater but gosh forbid my next one has it I will be trying it asap.... |

Good to hear that gripe water actually worked for you! We had tried it for awhile and it did nothing--I was convinced it was really just plain water in a bottle that they marketed to strung-out, desperate parents of colicky babies! We tried EVERYthiNg--took her to at least 4 different doctors and even went to our Minneapolis Children's hospital to see a specialist to see if there was anything seriously medically wrong with her. We even bought that Amby Baby hammock thing (supposed to help colicky babies), tried "colic tablets", and anything else I could get my hands on. The only thing that worked was me carrying her around all day and the dreaded word...time! I'm just curious what your son is like now?? I've read that colic has a lot to do with temperment--my daughter is still very strong willed, persistent, and slow to warm up to new situations (not that some of those are necessarily bad traits...)--just wondering if your son changed in temperment at all? |

My son is one of the easiest going children I know, I mean do not get me wrong we are entering our twos and the fit throwing has begun but really only with me. He loves any kind of attention and is pretty easy going. I always said that we had to go through all of that so that he could get it out of his system. I am sorry to hear all of that did not work for you, what a year huh..... |
