Weird Sleep Awakenings This Morning
So here's a question.....what would make Ian so upset that he would have trouble sleeping? About 5am, he wakes up crying, I comfort him back to sleep and put him back to bed. Five, ten minutes later, he's back up screaming. We go through this for about an hour. It wasn't teething because I gave him some teething tablets when I first went to him (he had previously been crying in his sleep and I only go to him when he stands up) and those always work when it's his teeth during the night. There were times he would fall asleep while I was holding him, but as soon as I laid him down, up he was again crying. We finally ended up sleeping on the couch and he was fine for a little bit, but he eventually started tossing and turning again, clearly feeling something. Since he was fine for the rest of the night, I'm hesitate to say it was something he ate, but I honestly don't know. Any ideas?

My daughter acts like that when she has an ear infection. Perhaps that is what is going on for him.....Has he had a cold or resperatory problem recently that would put him at risk? I don't know much about night terrors, but perhaps you expore that and see if that could be what is going on.....Also, sometimes I just chalk weird behavior up to the huge amounts of changes that our kids are going through and see what happens tomorrow......Hope that helps.

He hasn't had a cold in about a month (we've already gone through two ear infections, so he gets benadryl the moment I see one coming).

It's possible it's night terrors, but I got to thinking, we gave him a ginger snap and a strawberry wafer last night for the first time. Maybe it was the ginger snap?

something similar happen to me this past week. My daughter (12 mths) was visibly agitated and woke up very upset later in the night. I also gave her teething tablets. We think it might have been a stomach virus (she had no cold symptoms) or teething pain so strong the tablets did not work. I also think sometimes you have to chalk it up to weird things that happen to babies as they grow and develop. Imagine how frightening it must be for them to not understand why they feel different one day or one minute to the next. Hang in there. Leila is better and back to herself now.

I would say night terrors, or just an upset tummy. Katie does that sometimes too. Something in his crib could have scared him, or he's just having bad dreams. It's just one of those phases, usually doesn't happen every night. With katie i just pick her up, and rock her in her room. She's usually back to sleep in about 10 minutes and good until morning. She does that sometimes during her naps too. I don't think it's anything to really be worrie about. Question tho, why benedryl for an ear infection? Just curious cuz my daughter has gotten a few in the past and nothing seems to help the pain until the anitibiotics kick in.
