Separation Anxiety

Is anyone else going through this? My son is a good sleeper and just recently he is screaming his head off when we put him to bed at night. He is smiling when I put him down, but the second I leave his room he starts screaming until he's hoarse. We have a tiny apartment and we keep his door open so he can see us from his crib, but I still think he is having a hard time being alone in his room. Any advice?
