I firmly believe in feeding my daughter healthy food, made from scratch at home with all of the freshest ingredients. I want to teach her how to eat healthy. I do however take her out to BK or McDonalds once a week for lunch usually after the mommy and me class. I am just wondering how many of you agree with the parents lawsuits against the fast food industry. I sit here and listen to heavy set mothers of heavy set children on the news complaining that McDonalds made their kids fat, and Burger is causing their kids health problems, but first off, aren't these kids predisposed being that mom and dad don't look like the healthiest people? Secondly who gave the kids the money and provided the transportation? Who wasn't there to supervise what their kid was doing? Is it now the job of the fast food industry to babysit kids? If they told kids "no you can't buy our food", aren't they in a catch 22 setting themselves up for a new lawsuit?

You are so right on the money. It's the parents job to make sure what the kids eat. We go to fast food too, but not all the time. And in the meantime, while we are there, the kids are running around in the play area, 'burning' off the food and tiring out...or so I'm hoping...lol! I don't think parents should be allowed to have lawsuits against fast food restaurants. And fast food restaurants should not have to 'babysit'.

It's sad really that people constantly need someone to blame other than themselves. If you don't want your kids to eat fast food you just don't take them. I take my little ones out at least once every other week, it's a special treat and I decided to take them no one made me plan our outings. Our society is full of people who refuse to take responsibility for the actions. If you smoke you may get cancer if you eat alot of fatty foods you maybe over weight. It just makes me so angry, wake up people. Rather than tring to make a buck on the fast food industry why not join a gym or the YMCA with your little guy. And childhood obesity doesn't always mean your going to be a heavy adult. My brother was a very heavy little boy, and he when he hit puberty he slimed down. |

ANY law suit that people just do to try and make money makes me mad. And some of the judges are just as bad.... they wouldn't want me as a judge I would look at them like they were stupid. My coffee is too hot and it spilled so I am going to sue .... WHAT is that? A robber breaks into a house and he breaks his leg then tries to sue for that, a guy is golfing in a thunder storm and gets struck by lightning and wants to sue the golf club..... Hey dummy do you have no common sense? Go swimming during the storm next time.... Over weight people if it is not a "medical condition" cause it themselves and teach their children the same thing, eat fatty food, sit around and don't be active, drive around the parking lot a million times and waste gas so you can get a spot really close so you don't have to actually walk the extra 30 yards because that would be awful and instead of walking around the store just get an electric chair and be even more lazy, but it is not their own doing.....right! I have no sympathy my ex was 300 lbs and has now lost over 140lbs so it can be done you just have to get off your butt (literally) and stop eating junk and not exercising your heart can only take so much....... SORRY a touchy subject I had to rant ;) |

LMFAO. I know what you mean though, I myself have almost been mowed over by a five hund. lb woman on one of those ride on things, and you have to wonder why? I mean I know somepeople can't walk because they are so heavy, but if they would have walked in the first place they would have never gotten so heavy it was physically impossible. It is like there has to be a dum dum sticker on everything, this may cause cancer, this may burn you, as if you didn't know there are carcinogens in cigs, or coffee was friggin hot, unless you order an iced coffee, you are a complete mo to assume you hot coffee would be anything but, and if it was you would be the first one complaining. |

ok, i agree on the fast food making people fat thing. but with the coffee. . . that woman had THIRD DEGREE BURNS. THIRD DEGREE. the coffee was over hot. and the settlement was one day's worth of coffee profits. that doesn't seem bad to me. . . |

Well my only reply to this post is eat right and exercise.Stay away from fast food resturants and if you have to go to one, ask for something on their menu that you'd serve at your own home.We all were taught, growing up, what is good for us and what isnt.It is up to us to make sure that our children eat right.Obesity starts in your own home.Im sorry ,but it does. The eating habits of mom and dad spill over to the children.I have seen it on the Discovery Channel many times.I make my children eat foods every night that are healthy.I dont allow them to snack, and if they do it is always fruit.I make a cake maybe 2 times a month,if they are lucky.I try and make homemade cakes or homemade specialty bread.I love recipe books.I try and make alot of homemade foods and stay away from boxes.I use alot of spices to make foods different.2 or 3 xs a month we have veggie night/fruits.We have potato night where they can put 5 r 6 different things on their potato.I do not allow my children to drink sodas. They drink water or Ill buy them Crystal Light,no sugar. No red,I read that red dyes are bad.My children do not have a weight problem or teeth problems because I am so anal about what I feed them. |

But she would have complained it was cold if it wasn't hot enough, any normal person would use caution when drinking a "hot" beverage, and now there is a dumb dumb warning on something that should be common knowledge, because someone didn't use better judgement, and think "This may be really hot, I should be careful" . As a country, Americans are sue happy and look to make a buck because their judgement sucked but they won't admit it. |

Ok that woman was holding the coffee between her thighs, while driving.... she did not use proper precautions... thrid degree is serious but now people have gone overboard.... at Starbucks for example you have to ask for things extra hot or else your coffee or hot chocolate drinks are lukewarm after 5 minutes and totally undrinkable in my opinion....
If someone eats fastfood, you know what you are eating... that's just duh... the food is cheap because it is made from cheap ingredients... |

I totally disagree with some of these lawsuits, some of I believe is peoples way of trying to get money, or make it on t.v.we eat fastfood probably once a week or at least once every two weeks, and like others have said it is the parents choice where and how often they are taking them, Mcdonalds isnt pulling their leg making them come get food. |

I agree that parents are savy enough to know that a daily dose of fast food is not considered healthy. I also believe that if you serve food--you have a responsibility to give nutrition...especially if your target market is children. Next time you go to McDonald's, buy an extra hamburger without anything on it...just hamburger and bun. Throw it in a drawer and check it in a week. The results will surprise you. So, I guess I do believe parents should be able to guide and help their children make good decisions. However, there needs to be nutritional value served from ALL restaurants. |

Now, that is nice, but that is where I disagree, I think it is infringing on the rights of owners to tell them you have to offer this. If they don't offer and that is what you want, go elsewhere. It is like going into a store that sells brown carpets, and the government swoops in and makes them sell all different colors of carpets, why is it the right of the government to tell a business owner what they have to sell? If a parent wants healthy food, they should only cook at home. They have made these places come up with healthy choices, but how healthy are the choices? Apples cut up in a bag that last for God knows how long, they do not turn brown? Yeah apples are healthy, but once they are done adding all the preservatives and chemicles, I would rather my kid have the fries one time a week. The salads there are also treated with preservatives. It is no ones place to tell a business what they should or should not sell, and if these dumb lawsuits were nipped in the bud when they started, none of this would ever be an issue. |

Plus do you think those parents who are heavy with heavy children who ate all of the crappy food are now eatting off the "healthy" menu? They sued McDonalds, and are now spending the money at BK getting double whopper with large fries. If there is no adult supervision, The kids will choose the more appealing junk food if that is what they are used to having, which obviously starts at home. Like I said, I take my daughter once a week, the other 20 meals of the week are nutritious, and balanced. She gets her choices of fruits and veggies. Hopefully by my always having them and her always eatting them and loving them, those will be the choices she makes on her own when I am not there to choose for her. |

I did not mean to sound as if I agree with the law suit--I do not agree with any money making law suits. And I am certain that you are giving your daughter the nutrition and example that she needs. I still think If you try the hamburger test--you will be surprised as I was. I am not coming from a perspective that we need government regulation--I am more interested in company integrity. |
