HELP! 20 mo. toddler began Crib Jumping!!!!! What to do????
My 20 mo. daughter discovered how to climb out of her crib a few days ago, and its been somewhat of a nightmare hearing her get up at night, plop out of her crib, open the door, and start walking down the hallway (she has stopped crying when she gets up and just gets out of her crib). The first night she did it it was horrible--she would NOT go to bed--I kept putting her back in the crib, giving her her Nuk, covering her up, and then about a min. later I would hear her drop out of the crib and then open the door--this cycle continued for about an hour or so--I would just wait by her door to catch her come out and put her back in her crib continuously until she finally went to sleep. I'm worried that she's going to hurt herself one of these times getting out of her crib--AND/OR hurt herself doing something around the house if I'm sleeping and don't hear her get up! Has anyone else had this happen yet??? What did you do?? I feel like she's still too small to transition to a twin bed (I heard toddler beds are a waste of money?)--how do I make sure she doesn't get into trouble at night--I mean, our house is mostly child proofed--but there is always trouble to get into. I don't know--I don't want to lock her in her room, but right now I'm at a loss?? Any Suggestions would be wonderful!!!!

Im sorry;the day that the child can climb out of the crib ,is the day to take the front off and make it into a day crib bed.You can put a piece of fitted wood under the front to leverage it.Thats what my crib does that we bought. Then I suggest that you go and buy one of those high fences at Walmart. They are like 40 r 50 bux.I can barely climb over them with my leg.Or you can buy 2 cheap ones and use 1 on top of the other. That will give you 5 foot of height at her door. She can see thru it and so can you.You have the wood in the middle to prevent her from pushing it all the way thru the door once you put the 2 on top of each other. You can talk to her til you are blue in the face and she is still going to climb out of the bed and out of her door.LOL

Sounds like she is ready for a big girl bed. You just have to keep putting her back in the bed. I don't know if you are familiar with Supernanny but she says just sit in her room at the door the first few nights and everytime she gets out of bed you put her right back in, this could go on for hours but she will eventually get the picture that hey I'm wasting my time because mom is just going to keep putting me back in this bed, it gets shorter everynight. And make a big deal out of her "Big Girl Bed" She will figure it out just might take a few nights.
