I suggest reading your lil sew book that came w it.Then go buy some cheap fabric from Walmart and a pattern for a beginner.Something that takes straight stitches like a skirt for you or your child, An elastic banded skirt. There are patterns that give exact directions w/ pictures.I also would go to the library or if you have the extra money buy a couple of 101 sewing books. They are also very helpful.Zippered items are the hardest to get perfect. Some shirts are not too hard if they are no sleeved. But once you learn to dart and make a sleeve and put it in,youll be able to tackle new projects. When I was 5 yrs old,I started sewing by hand barbie clothes. Then when I was 9, I used my moms ancient singer sewing machine. Then I got into home ec and that was where I learned even more.Through the yrs I have learned alot from my mom and on my own.
