Away from baby while breastfeeding
Hi. I'm a stay at home mom, yet I am doing a little contract work on the side for my old company. They have asked me to go on a weekend business trip to Florida in mid April. Baby will be 5 1/2 months and I'm breastfeeding. They offered to fly her and my husband out with me, yet I am thinking that it would be very difficult. I am leaning towards having my mother in law come up to help my husband (we live on a farm!) and pump enough milk to last for 2 days. Do you think this would work? She takes a bottle, yet I've never been away from her for more than 4 hours. I'm really torn and want to do the best thing for the baby.

I think it'll bother you more, then it would her.Dont forget your pump kit to go w you.You will be miserable and engorged if you dont.Hopefully you can get a suite that has an icebox and you can bring a cold carry on, on the plane to bring it home.Or just pump and poor out.

I would try to stay away for a day before hand. Pick a day where your husband can watch her and take a day to yourself and see how she does without him there. I had a similar situation and while I was gone my DD decided that the bottle was no longer of any use to her. I ended up having to cut my trip short. She was about 4.5 months at the time and had been using a bottle. Since that day she has refused a bottle completely (she's now 11 months). I don't think most babies have a problem but I would try it especially if there is another option.
