Haven't heard anything about here in our area of Oklahoma, but we do homeschool and miss out on a lot of that stuff.

I'm in California and have not heard of the "stomach virus". I, too, would like to know what it is.

I know the cold/flu bug is going around. At first, you think it is allergies, then you get a pounding frontal headache, your ears begin to ring, you get a fever for a couple of days, body aches, and just sleepy. Or, at least that is what happpened to me, and I am so glad its over.

Stomach virus or stomach flu usually lasts between 24 - 48 hrs. It is an infalmation of the colon.Cramping, diarrhea, fever and vomitting.

My pediatrician always had me put my son on clear fluids for 24 hrs or until he could hold down something for more than 15 minutes.

Gatorade (at the time) clear broths(chicken noodle soup, the one that is mostly broth) and slatines.

Then applesauce and toast if they started feeling better and before giving them a regular diet.

The summer I turned 15 I got some stomach bug that wouldn't let me keep down ANYTHING for 2 weeks. We never did find out exactly what it was. Fortunately, my mother, being an RN realized that I would absord fluids through the membranes of my mouth if I would just suck and not swallow. If she hadn't worked so hard to keep me hydrated I'd have ended up in the hospital on IV fluids.

During the 2nd or 3rd day, we got cable television for the first time and I thought 33 channels was the BOMB! Kept me from going nuts!

YES! your'e right. There is a "stomach virus" going around. One of my co-workers had it, and ended in the hospital cause he could not keep his fluids down. Not sure how one gets it, but thank goodness we are on different shifts, cause I do not want to get it!
