Wow, that must be frustrating sometimes. Well, when I started looking the first thing I did was use a search engine (I love Google) and started typing in different words and searching the sites that came up. I started with Homeschool Glendale AZ and there was an abundance of information. Even if it's a small town, there are laws (not sure about each state's specific laws but I'm pretty sure that the Homeschool laws are generally the same) that make it so the city has to mandate a 'group' of some sorts, even if they appoint someone to run it. It's special for homeschooling families so they have outings and activities on a regular basis with other homeschooling families. Also, each school district differs but to some extent they have to help you with curriculum and sometimes books, but our district would let our children participate in things like Track or Field day with the kids in school and also attend PE. So definitely check out what your city or a larger nearby city has to offer. Also, we do little things like go to the library for story time and go to a lot of the free events the library and city are offering. We go to two different parks on different days and play with the kids there too. I hope some of this helps you out. = ) I am still just learning because there is a lot of information out there.

well i looked up homeschooling in my town and there are no groups at all, the schools don't really help either, they all give you their "opinions" and "lectures" on why your child need public school not homeschooling. its frustrating that all these people feel they need to judge me and still in their opinions without asking. even my own family is down on homeschooling. Its really hard sometimes.

if you know of any ways to start a group for homeschooling so i can learn how to plan outings and things it would be really helpful, i don't even know where to start.

I am looking up right now...the first good website I found is http://www.home-school.com/groups/AR.html
and that has at least ten groups in Arkansas. Here's another one with the name and address of the Homeschool Office Arkansas http://www.homeeddirectory.com/states/Arkansas.htm
I would call or email and find out what help they can offer. Here is HSLDA and you can click on your state http://www.hslda.org/Default.asp?bhcp=1
Not sure if you are religious or not but here are two religious groups that are in AR http://www.titus2.com/w-cassette-tape-2.htm
Here is a link that has non religious groups too http://homeschoolfun.com/new/default.asp?pc_id=5
And I was only on page 2 of searching. I hope this helps. How about starting a group in your area and see if there are any other families in your area wanting to meet up.

Just read your second post. You can start a group on this site or on Meetup.com but it costs money...that's why I started this one because it's free. I don't know any other websites and it was a flop to search for others = ) .
