The front runners of the Democratic party are a woman and a black man, until few years ago it was unimaginable we would be in this scenario.
I like both candidates but do you think America is ready for a president part of a minority? I have to say I wish it is because it would show the rest of the world that we are free of bad history.
Amazingly enough, Mc Cain is 72 but white and male, can you imagine a woman candidate black and old!!!!

If we had and older black woman as president....she wouldn't take sh*t from anyone and would try to set everyone straight.... I think Madea should be president. I don't know if anyone has ever seen those movies but she (he) is funny. My kids rented them. I think we are as ready as we are ever going to be. Better now and start opening peoples eyes than stay with the norm of an older white male, christian, wife and kids, blah blah blah. I look forward to having one day to say "The first man" or someone who is bi-racial. It might do us some good to have other leaders see us in a different light. |

I think so. I think people are getting so sick of the way things have been going in this country that, even if people don't like the notion of having a black or woman president, they are willing to explore it to have a different perspective. |

If there ever was a time for America to be ready now is it. Record numbers of people are getting involved and voting, and that is in good part to the fact that there is something different out there. This is not to say a white middle aged man is unable to fix whats wrong, I just feel so much of Washington is out of touch with the everyday people. For example, how many times can one administration say that "the economy is on solid ground" when the very ground they speak of is crumbling around them. This is why I feel that 2008 will be the year we make history....I firmly believe that we will either have a black man or a woman elected, my only hope is that they take the opportunity to do what everyone wants...something different. I think the question is not the sit back and ask"Is America ready", but for each of us to get out as Americans and say are we ready and do we have what it takes to make a difference. That's how things change. |

vero,
you forgot to add that mccain is a former POW. that is huge. nonethless he is tied to the bush admin by being a republican and will not win because of that. he is in favor of letting minorities into the country and is not a pro-lifer so the republicans are not too thrilled with him. i would say if he were still an independent he would have had a way better chance. a former POW who did not leave after ten years when they said he could b/c he still had friends left behind. he is a man of honor too. but i think the other man of honor has a better chance.
yes america is ready! |
