My son had to have surgery when he was 8 months old, I was told that it is a pretty common procedure, he had a hernia and an undescended teste, but all the sames I was scared. But he can through it just fine and healed rather quickly, I think I was more of a wreck than him.

Hi Lexi
My sister's friend was born with extra toes. She had them removed when she was a child. She is now 40yrs old now and fine.

I had a friend that had an extra toe that she didn't get removed until we were in 8th grade. She seemed fine with it all....I think the scariest part is the anesthesia my son had a crap dr. when he was born and wanted 100 cash to circumcise him when he was born. By the time we found out he was full of crap and it was covered he was a couple of weeks old and they couldn't do it until he was 11 month so he had to be put to sleep to get it done. He was perfectly fine but it was scary. Good Luck!

Mikayla had surgery at three months for pyloric stenosis. She was not able to digest her food as the pyloric sphincter, the muscle that allows food to pass from the stomach to the intestine was thickened. Her dad had the same thing as a baby, and it is genetic. I was scared out of my mind, especially because when I met her surgeon, he reminded me in every way of squiggy from Laverne and Shirley, but the surgery went great and she is 100 percent better now.

My kids had surgeries in their intestine as newborn and it was the scariest and most traumatic experience of my life. However, trusting the surgeon was a big help.
Remember also that kids recover from surgeries a lot faster than adults!
