I have four kids and My five year old was diagnosed 2 years ago with ADHD. She just got medicated today. I am hoping for a change as the last few years were hard. Sometimes she doesnt even know that she is moving a lot. I feel for you. I had to get a referral from the psychologist. that took over a year. It will get better. |

My 7 year old son has ADHD, the inattentive type. Is your son taking meds? Or doing anything to help with it? |

I have two boys with ADHD and myself was diagnosed a few years ago. We had a lot of trouble with my older son's aggressive/fighting (which was hard when he was an only), we sought treatment, not just the regular variety, but we worked on behavior management and diet changes before we tried medicine. We then had to try a few different kinds, but he is doing so well and even on honor roll and is in the application process for a great high school. In fact, we waited until my older son wanted to take medicine so that he had 'buy in' to the regimine and now he is participating in a study for medicine.
There's hope! I KNOW it's hard to see the light and worse that ADHD is over-diagnosed and often misunderstood! |

Thanks to all that replied to ADHD Child. I havent tired meds yet but dont think i am ready for that yet. His teachers seem to think he is doing better. So I am just going to play it all out for awhile. At least he is doing ok at school right? He was diagnosed last school year. any other advice |

My son is only 7 months so we haven't seen ADHD concerns yet (but if he's like me, he will). But I have worked with ADHD children professionally for 10 years so if you have any questions I can either answer them or direct you to an apprpriate resource. |

Patrick, what an amazing resource to have! I personally think the behavior modification stuff is the best and the medicine is supplemental support, so it is nice to have someone to discuss options with! That is really generous of you! |
