talking
My oldest will be 3 in August and she still isnt alking very clearly....compared to other children her age and younger she is way behind....my other daughter will be 2 in September and she seems to be picking up words and saying them more clear then her older sister. Should i be worried about this? She is a very smart child...she understands EVERYTHING that is said to her but she just yammers on with words that are not clear at all... Can i call anyone to test her?

you can always call your pediatrician to find out who to go to.... but remember all kids develop different and if she has other kids or adults that just talk for her or if she points and the object is given then she probably just figures she doesn't really have to talk. Give her time remember Einstein and Mozart didn't talk for the first time till after 3. Once she does start and you think she has a speech impediment then there are a lot of places to go for that. My step daughter has one and still does she is very smart but it's like if her tongue just gets in the way with certain words. she is 10 and has to go to a class for it.

have you had her hearing checked? A friend of mine had the same problem with their child and it turned out her ears had a lot of wax in them and she was not hearing properly. It could also be that she has a mild hearing problem so she is not hearing some sounds correctly.

She is always around grown ups and no one talks "baby talk" to her and she has to say (the best she can) what she wants. I will have to call her doctor sometime this month and see if i can get her in to have her hearing tested... She has always had a blankie she chews on and it has caused her teeth to push out and i have noticed she seems to push her tounge out alot more then she should when she is talking. I have tried to take her blankie away many time but she just finds something else to shove in her mouth like a bathroom towl. :(

All children develop differently (i didn't talk until I was 4), however like one of the girls said it could be her hearing so you might want to have that checked out.
