Two boys with ADHD
Hello, my name is Julia I am a mother of three (although currently my older son lives with my parents) but all three of them have ADHD & ODD. Last month my six year old (Kyle) was suspended from school twice. He was getting very aggressive and started swearing and just lashing out. It's weird though because there would be no warning sign. One minute he's fine and then all of the sudden he starts yelling screaming swearing throwing things hitting punching you name it he did it. I ended up having to bring him to BryLin hospital where they monitor his meds and all that. He has been there now for 3 weeks. My younger Christian (5) is really starting to miss him as well as the rest of us. On the other hand he has been listening a little bit better- maybe thinking if he doesn't start making "good choices" he might end up there. My boyfriend and his family have been so helpful and extremely supportive, even his aunts and uncles call to see how Kyle is doing and to make sure we are ok. My family on the other hand not supportive. I'm guessing they really don't understand how serious these issues can be. Oh well, families can't live with them yet can't live without them. Also, I am 29, I currently receive disability, and am seeking advice and just other people to talk to that know these disabilities, and to just be able to vent. I'm also good at listening so anyone out there that really needs to vent lay it on me. Thank you, I hope to hear from this group soon. Take care.

Welcome aboard Julia, I know how you feel. My mother in law seems to be the only one who knows what i am going through as she has been there herself ...of course 30 yrs ago these children were cast aside and just labeled as trouble makers. My ex-husband now has had nothing to do with 2 of our children in a year and my current husband don't understand my son. Then there's my mother who thinks all I need to do is to give my son a good butt spanking and he will listen and straighten up.
If you don't mind my asking what is the official diagnosis your son has and what medications in he currently on? Feel free to email me anytime. It is easier to reach me at mymysticalfaith@yahoo.com. Take care and I promise it does get easier.

Hi Candy, thank you so much for replying. Both of my boys have been diagnosed with the ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder(ODD). I'm not really sure what meds Kyle is on because the doctor at BryLin changed it again. Christian is on Clonidine. My older son Mikey (the one that lives with my parents) also has ADHD and is on Adderall. I think my mom thinks that because Kyle is in the hospital it's like he's on a vacation or something because she thinks I'm supposed to drop everything else to do more with my older son. She doesn't understand that running back and forth to the hospital along with taking care of my younger son how exhausting it can really be. Kyle and Christian have not seen their dad in like 3 years or more. I have been with my current boyfriend for almost 5yrs. now. It's just amazing how he has done more for my boys than their actual father ever did. And as long as I can keep him out of the picture the better off we all are. My email address is jullees04@aol.com. Well, it's almost time for us to go up to see Kyle so again thank you and hope to hear from you soon. Take care.
