Hi, my name is angelic and I am new to the group. As of april, I will be having my second child and will be a full-time SAHM...... I was wondering about your experiences with such a transition and if there is any advice you mammas have out there for a newbie? |

I try to make to do lists so that I am not overwhelmed by house work and children. I love being home with my children. But you do have to plan mommy time, and believe me it doesn't always happen. |

Have playdates with moms that have kids the same age as yours. It is not only good for your kids but you need some adult time as well. You can easly loose yourself. But there is no better job than beeing a sahm. Just enjoy everyday and make sure you get some down time without kids. Good luck and enjoy Valerie |

Hi Angelic,
Welcome. I also stopped working when my son was born in 4/06 after having worked for 16 years. I must admit that the first couple of months I was new mommy bliss. Then one day I found myself calling my husband at work just to hear another adult voice. After that day I just tried to focus on my son and his milestones and the positive gift that my husband and I were giving him - a stay at home mom. Thinking back to my days of freaking out I laugh. I like my new job - it has much better perks like unlimited kisses and cuddles. I usually run my errands on the weekends so that my husband and son can have dad and son time and I can have Denise time. I wish you much luck and many happy moments with your new bundle of joy!!! |

Hi Angelic,
I take advantage of Meetup.com for mom's groups and keep myself and my son, Mark, socially active. I think for us, it's important to get out of the house at least once a day. I'm 31 and have worked since I was 16 FT, so it was a transistion. Make sure you make time for yourself and try to remember that just because you have kids doesn't mean you died!

whatever you do find a way to have a little time by yourself. I am finally starting to realize how important it is after 2 years. |
