Hi, I am the mother of an 8 month old girl and work full-time as a social worker. I am really glad to find other moms on here who also do paid work.

This week has been tough more me so far b/c my daughter has had an ear infection, sleep has been spuratic at best, and I am feeling a little guilt having to leave her with my husband or day care while I go to work.

How do you cope with a sick little one and work?

Sometimes I end up staying home from work to take care of her, especially with the cold air; I don't want her going out in the cold air. But if she's not too bad, I go ahead and take her to my mom's.

I know how you feel Celeste. My son also had an ear infection in both ears so I know what you are going through. I use to cry to myself when driving to work when I had to leave him. Fortunately, my mother has a day care center where she can take care of him and be my other pair of eyes and ears, but at times it's still not the same.

Thank you all for the support. She is home today with her dad for the secound day in a row, but she slept much better the last 2 nights. That means I feel like a regualr human being here at work and can actually think. Yippee. Monday I felt as out of it as I did those first few weeks back from Maternity leave.
