Places to have 1 year old's first birthday party?
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for places that would be appropriate to have a 1 year old's birthday party. I really don't want to have it at our house because it is a little small for all the people we are inviting. Thanks.

When I was looking around for places to have the party I found the Museum of Transportation. They have a pretty good, decently priced, party package. I didn't get to hold mine there because we were rushed in planning (immediately after the holidays), but I'm think I'd like to hold it there sometime in the future. They have activities for the older kids that might come but their Creation Station has things that a one year old might like as well. Also, the Y was another consideration for where I could hold it but they were going to charge about the same price as many of the places that had party packages and nothing was included except facility rental. The zoo and Science Center also have packages, but the Science Center might be more appropriate for an older child and the zoo might be a bit chilly in the winter. Hope this helps - I know it's a bit hard to find places for 1 year old parties. I think the places will get easier and more appropriate as the kids get older - I was kinda stumped too.

Incredibles Pizza by Ronnies Plaza on S. Lindbergh! It is amazing. It is bigger than Chuck E Cheese, with better food! Prize is pretty reasonable too!

Winter birthdays are difficult for young ones. My daughter loves it outside, so I would have loved to have an outdoor party, yet that is just not feasable in mid-February. When choosing a venue, first and foremost keep your birthday child in mind and secondly the guests. Obviously it has to be a place safe and fun for a one year old. If you are having other children, some of the museums may be appropriate, but if it is adults moslty, you may want to consider other places.

Originally I had a large guest list for my daughter's 1st birthday party, but in the end, I realized it was her birthday and not mine. Having so many people would have been too overwhelming for her, so I narrowed down our list to about 25 people, immediate family and just a couple of our closest friends and had the party at our house. It ended up working out very nicely. everybody was able to enjoy the party and have time to talk and spend together without a busy atmosphere. There were many people we had to cut off the guest list, but I simply explained our situation to them, telling everybody we were having only immediate family, and they all understood. Our friends and family at church had a small celebration for her after church the next day as well.
