Hi, Just wanted to suggest Eucerin. My son's pediatrician suggested it at birth and my son is now 12. We have been using it for 12 years! Hope it helps.

Maybe Burt's Bees Baby products? The dr. hasn't done an allergy test for you? My daughter just had a baby and they were able to do an allergy test with a blood test (not the old scratch test they use to do). You might ask them to. Eczema will present as a rash and then sometimes they need a round of antibiotics to clear it up and then you have to be diligent with lotion the rest of their lives. Good luck! |

Thanks for everyone advice. The only time the rash presents is after being exposed to lotion. Otherwise she has clear skin. She is getting some dry spots that I wanted to take care of. I haven't tried Burts Bees stuff...probably next step. Do you use the Baby formula or regular?? |

I use Burt’s bee and I really like the products. My daughter gets dry patches on her arms and I have used the diaper rash cream for it (just on the dry patch and it worked much better then the lotion), gone in about two days. I also use bath products from California Baby, they are all natural created by a vegetarian mom. In the winter months I only give my daughter a bath every other day and use a wash cloth on the off days. We also have well water which is much softer then city water (no chlorine). |

My daughter has had the same problem since birth; she is now six months. Her pediatrician prescribed a hydrocortizone/steriod ointment, which really helps. We only use that when she has extreme dry patches. On a daily basis, I started using Burt's Bees soap, and Aveeno lotion (fragrance free for severly dry/chapped skin). It still comes and goes, but this is the only thing I've found that works. Hopes this helps! |

My son has had eczema since birth. He mostly gets dry spots on his legs and by his earlobe. When he was a baby I would mix hydrocortisone cream with aquaphor. This would usually take it away and then I would have to maintain it by using Aveeno baby lotion. They now have an Aveeno lotion made for eczema skin. It has light blue print on it. Make sure you put the lotion on immediately after you give her a bath. This helps to keep in the moisture. This past summer, my son had a lot of spots on his legs and feet. The dermo. prescribed him an ointment because it just wouldn't go away. He also had some on his feet, so she suggested using a spray deoderant on them. Also, I've used CeraVe lotion. This stuff is great (of course it's a little more expensive and you can't find it everywhere...I found it at Walgreens) I like it because it works like aquaphor and eucerin, but in goes into the skin better. It's not greasy or oily. I hope this helps! Good luck. |

Hi there Deanna! My little one is six mths old and has the same problem. He has eczema and it is flaring up due to the weather here in Chicago. I tried Eucerin which his ped. informed me to try. No result either. For bathing I use Aveeno Soothing formula mix that with water to get it sudsy. Then I put about 2tbsp of olive oil and about 1/4 cup of crushed oatmeal (almost a powder consistency). That helped ALOT. For Lotions I use Weleda calendula baby cream. Before i put the lotion on I also rub him with Olive oil. That has been the only two things to work for me. On really dry spots I put a little hydrocortizone 1% cream for accouple of days and seal it with the calendula cream. I have also heard that virgin coconut oil works and also shea butter but I have yet to try. Good Luck! = ) |

I would strongly suggest trying EVERYTHING before having to use the steriod cream. Just when they are that age it is very crucial to not mess up their system so young. Especially with something like that. Your skin is the largest organ on your body and absorbs whatever you put on it within 26 seconds right into your blood stream. So you should just be careful with that steriod stuff. I am crazy person with my son I guess you could say. I just want him to be healthy and not autimatically always have to use drugs just because they are prescribed. My friends daughter had severe eczema and she started to use Arbonne that has a baby line. That pretty much was the end of her eczema. I then got turned to it because of the research I did on it and knowing what it did and didn't have in it. So I signed up to order the product as well. I strongly suggest if you want to try it to just sign up so then you get the discount instead of paying full price (35%-50%) and it is only $29/year to get the discount. Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts. Let me know if you want more info. I can sign you up to get the discount as she did for me. Good Luck on your search |

I am definately all for natural products before using the hydroc.cream. Even though it works it can have long term affects. I have heard about the Arbonne product but was skeptical. I would be interested to try them with the discount. |

Jessica, I am right now board with you. I have always lived the natural life. I know there is a time for meds, but it is always last resort. I have tried arbonne, I like the products for me. THey didn't seem to help with this issue. I use the diaper cream when I see her little bottom starting to get red. But it didn't work when she had a severe case. Luckily she has only had one, and I learned from it. It sucks being a first time mom and having to learn everything the hard way :-)
THINGS THAT DID WORK I put a capful of olive oil in her bath. I felt silly, like I was preparing her for dinner. BUT IT WORKED! It really moisturized her skin. The bath was a slippery mess, but... Thank you to the one who recommended that! I also used A&D ointment on the really dry patched. And California Baby products don't make her break out, so I guess that is what we will use now. |

That is very interesting on the Olive Oil thing...I would try that first too! I do say that Arbonne just like anything else may not work for everyone. I just would try everything before oinments and all those other prescribed meds.
Jenaya, if it is somthing you want to try please send me a private message and I can send you my phone number and we can just chat and get you registered to purchase the product only at a discount (35-50% off)
Have a great day ladies and I love all the Olive Oil idea....sorry I just would have never thought.
Thanks!

Hi Deanna, I am glad California Baby Products work for you. I have also tried accouple but didn't have much luck. I think under resources someone sugguested Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream. My son had a major break out saturday to sunday night. I went to Walgreens Sunday morning and put it all over his body about everyother diaper change and I saw an improvement immediately!!!I The ingredients are pretty much all natural and affordable at $9.99 for 4oz. Usually the lotions I put on him are not thick enough and usually don't keep his skin moisturized for very long. This one acutally sustains half way though the day! Love it! |

The reason most products do not work is that they have formaldehyde in them. They give it different names but it is in there. I have found great natural or non-toxic product that work great! My daughter had eczema and it took care of it right away. I get them from a catalog company online. |

Deanna, I found Olive Oil to be good on bubs sensative skin, but a little heavy.... I changed to Apricot Kernal Oil... I have used Almond oil, but had trouble finding that here in the States.
It does cost a little more - but as I said, it's not as heavy
PS I used the Olive oil on my growing tummy to prevent stretch marks. |

Hi, I am Jenna and I have had the same problem with my children. I also had tried everything, and the only thing that worked for my children was a stuff from their doctor. It's called Triamcinolona. You use it for a few weeks and then you don't have to use it for a while. I hope this helps. But talk to your doctor first. |
