I should have shared this yesterday, maybe I would have been able to sleep. My hubby and I went to Walmart yesterday afternoon to go grocery shopping. We walked around for about an hour and when we were nearly through,He was in the icecream isle and I saw the bananas.I pushed the buggy w/Lexi over to them and when I looked up; this man of about 50ish w/ pure grey hair dressed in jeans and a shirt made a beeline from over to the mac and cheese already made products, chili and rice products meat isle.He had a buggy but it had like 3 things in it.He looked at my buggy and said wow your cart sure is full.Care to give me your lil girl to make room for more stuff?I immediately put myself in between this man and my daughter and I said I dont think so.Shes my life.He says she sure is beautiful as I was moving away from him as fast as I could.Im looking for my hubby who is still goggeling the ice cream and couldnt see him.I moved towards the bread and bakery stuff and this man kept following me.My hair was already standing on end and my stomach felt sick.He got next to me again and askled how old she was and I replied shes 1 1/2 excuse me.I went around the bread and the bananas toward the meat isle to look for hubby again and the man was gone as fast as he was there.I was so scared.Women have a 6th sense and all I felt was danger for my child.I finally saw hubby in the isle and I looked at him.He must have seen my face he said whats wrong what happened you look sick.I told him and he about freaked! He went to look but the man was just gone.I was ill at ease all night wondering what it meant.Im too analytical.I couldnt sleep.I am still scared. He came over like he knew me,so gallantly.I dont know anyone but 2 r 3 ppl here.It scares me to know that as a woman w her baby;I cant even go to the store and feel safe.I thought ;what if?what if?Parking lot waiting?grabbed her and made me follow I mean what if???I am an aggressive person.I always have been.It made me think;what would I have done? Not much dangerous things by the bananas and the potatoes and the bread to clobber some one with!!!Anyone else had this happen?Im in muskegon,Mi. |

Sounds like a creep! I would check online for local child predators & see if he is on there. I also wouldn't go to walmart without my husband for a little bit. But that's me. |

Thanks for sharing your experience. I live in MI too and it's a good reminder for me to always be on alert! |

A word of advice if someone was able to make you that uncomfortable YOU need to take a self-defense class, there is no reason you should ever be made to feel that way... Mace is also a nice thing they make ones that clip on your keychain. And regardless of the persons gender a good old fashioned kick to the groin usually stuns anyone long enough to get away... Don't let yourself become a victim.

Wow! I'm so glad your husband was with you. Also, alerting a store clerk or security guard is also a good thing. Walmart usually has them posted at the entrances nowadays because of abductions and theft and the like. Wheh! This story makes my heart thump for you. Be alert. Never ignore that "feeling"...I'm sure it was different than just if he'd had a "joking tone" to his voice...and the fact he followed you and continued the conversation was wierd. Anyway, don't be afraid to go grocery shopping. I would be a little on edge for awhile. Pray for courage and keep communicating your feelings about it to your husband. This is his wife and daughter and I'm sure he wishes he had been there to help when it was happening...so, here's to a better night's sleep...oh, and I recently got some key chain Mace too. It has "infrared tracer dye" on it so it can't be washed off and the police can identify perpetraters. It helps me feel a bit more prepared when I'm out with the baby or by myself

I may be overboard, but I'd alert the local authorities and the Walmart management. Like recommended above I'd also check your sex offender, preditor listings so that if he is on there you can identify him. As far as I am concerned when it comes to the safety of our children and those of others, you can't be to careful.
Question to the moms carrying mace........I'd be interested in getting some.......do you feel it is child safe? Meaning, if my son gets ahold of my key chain is there some sort of safety latch on it? |

Please call Walmart and report this guy. He could be targeting other women with small children. I would suggest a a bottle of pepper spray for your hand bag. Our sweet babies aren't safe anyway. |

Yes there is a safety "lock" on the keychain mace otherwise it would randomly go off as it got tossed around in my purse and that would not be very pleasant... I find it more child friendly than the non-keychain ones because they most of them don't have any safety devices on them. |

you can google mace or pepper spray for web-dealers. If you have a local shooting center they would more than likely carry it as well. Here are 2 web sites www.defendingwomen.com and www.macebrand.com
