Hi. I have a five year old daughter who has been diagnosed with PDD. Her name is Grace and she just turned five. I was excited to see this group. My name is Valerie and I have three other children. I am married but due to husband's schedule I might as well be a single parent. I'm hoping to see some activity on this site, her diagnosis is just three months old. |

Hi Liz. I would love to chat whenever we could.
Grace has had 'issues' since she was two. I have been trying to get an answer from doctors for nearly three years now. It seemed I would always get excuses to her behavior, etc. I had done some reading about Autisim but felt she didn't really fit into that category...completely. Autisim was rulled out by one doctor a year ago. Looking back now I'm not sure why she didn't consider the PDD diagnosis. She was diagnosed with PDD by a different doctor at the beginning of October, nearly a year after seeing the first doctor. It seemed to fit her so well, the diagnosis that is. We have our good days, our not so good days and our really bad days. I am in the process of trying to get a TSS for in the home (she does pretty good at school). She has been denied for TSS twice...I can not believe it, nor anybody that I speak to. Asside from the PDD diagnosis she is diagnosed with Language Disorder, ADHD and Disruptive Behavioral Disorder. She does have a behavior specialist and she can not believe it either. She said Grace is the perfect candidate for TSS.
My personal email is lilgsmommy@hotmail.com
I would love to have some friends with some of the same issues. I tend to feel very alone at times. Boo hoo for me huh? I don't mean it that way. Just with trying to take care of everybody and Grace's extra stuff, I become overwhelmed at times.
Nice to hear from you.

Hi Valerie: I felt very alone and scared when my son was diagnosed. I searched for a "reason" for a long time why my son? He has what they call aspergers syndrome as well as all the other labels normally given to kids like him. ADHD, PDD. You name it, it was brought up at least once. Developmental delay, social regression. The latest one they added was homicidal ideology. He got mad at someone and wrote down on paper that he wished they would die. I think that 99% of all kids get angry at one time or another and say or write things they don't really mean, they are just angry. Watch those specialized schools we place our kids in to receive the best help they can get. They often over react (in my opinion) to things and somethings are blown way out of proportion. Charlie is probably one of the sweetest kids I know. Every single day of his life since he was 5, he has said to me: "have I told you today that you are the most important person in my lfe?" Then he would hug and kiss me. Hang in there. That is what I do. He is my son and I want him to get the best that can be offered. That includes my best. He deserves it. And so does Grace. If you want to chat more, just let me know.~ Sincerely, Donna
